Just started playing both in 2025 for the first time. I see very little talk on these planes. What do you think?
They are French :P
Lost to harrier
I have been hearing this non-original garbage everytime I ask about anything for this tree anywhere I ask. It’s not funny.
They are awesome planes, super maneuverable, very well armed and great to fly (The only problem is the absence of CM on the III C but its armament justifies the Br)
The only well balanced aircraft of war thunder
Loses to harrier
I love the level of thought in this discussion.
(I imagine you are referring to the Falklands War)
Yes, indeed, during the Falklands War, the Mirage IIIs lost to the Sea Harriers. Saying there’s a difference between the aircraft is true, but it needs to be put into context.
- The Mirage III is 15 years older than the Sea Harrier
- The Sea Harriers had better radars than the Mirage IIIs.
- The Sea Harriers had better missiles than the Mirage IIIs.
- The Mirage IIIs arrived with large quantities of fuel because they had to travel much further to reach the Falklands than the British, which took off from their aircraft carriers.
- The Mirage IIIs could not use afterburners due to the lack of an in-flight refueling tanker and the duration of their flights.
- The Sea Harriers benefited from the radars of nearby British ships for guidance, something the Argentinians did not have.
To conclude, of the 16 Mirage IIIs present in the Argentine forces during the Falklands War, only 2 of them were lost during the conflict. (Moreover, of the two that were lost, one of them was destroyed by the Argentine anti-aircraft guns because of an identification error)
Wrong. The first encounter against Shars where after the Mirages came down from their high altitude and dropped their fuel tanks.
One was shot down while in reheat
Wrong some where equipped with a Matra 1 equivalent
Wrong 7-8 years technically
Maaaaybe Buffing stock missile would be neat.
I was fine with grinding Jewish Shahak when I had Shafir 2 as stock missile.
After that, I bought both of the Mirage 3C/E too.
And I got shocked badly when I noticed I need to use AIM-9B against a shameless gang of J-7D.
I am flawlessly believe both will be good jet after I spade them.
But just… Stock is way too punishing.
Man, it was just even worse than milan! XD
This thread is not about the falklands war.
Ik lol
You’d have to give the 3C magics from the start which honestly I don’t think would hurt anything since thats the only reason its 10.0 to begin with
If we consider Mirage 5F which can access Magic 1 at the beginning.
it would be fine.
I almost felt like I got scammed by french when I saw AIM-9B only for stock! Xd
The Matra 1 don’t exist, I assume you’re talking about the Magic 1? And in that case the Sea Harriers clearly had better missiles, the Aim-9Ls are VERY clearly superior to the Magic 1
Well then, the Mirage III having been put into service in 1961 (version C and 1964 version E) and the Sea Harrier in 1978, there are indeed a good fifteen years between the dates of entry into service.
The Sea Harrier has the same fuselage of the Gr.3 and the Gr.1-Gr.3 date back to 1969
But their avionics are not the same, you have a HUD that gives you information, a better engine and a much more modern RWR, even if the exterior is almost identical to that of the Gr3, the interior is completely changed
This thread is not about the falklands war…
The Mirage III EA was upgraded in 1993, after the conflict whose name must not be spoken, as it was then that they realized their inferiority.
The only difference between the Mirage III E and the III EA during the conflict was the engine, which was a Mirage 5 engine, and the TACAN, which was slightly improved.
