Gaijin ended up making just about the absolute worst changes to the M103 they could’ve possibly made… The tank is now more structurally weaker than it should ever be, and the actual in game model was changed so poorly it now resembles the model from world of tanks… What a -0 out of 10 update lol. Thanks Gaijin for just completely randomly deciding to ruin the M103, that’s great guys. The new one has to be one of the least accurate M103’s I’ve ever seen, why did they fatten and squish the tank?!
The new models hull is waaaay too wide and the turret also suffers from this issue plus the turret seems to be about 1.5/2 feet shorter than it’s supposed to be especially when looking at the area around the main gun and HMG, the turrets curvature is also very wrong and extends about 10% more on each side than it should.
Overall, the model is a graphical improvement and parts of it are more accurate to the real M103, but the color and stature need some serious work. [Direct model comparison has been added for context as most people seem to be misunderstanding this post so far]

Not to mention that they completely ruined a decade’s worth of skins for this tank also for no reason.
This tank is now not only unplayable but also ugly and disproportionately inaccurate to the real tank in size and performance. Seriously try it out for yourselves in-game it’s a complete turd now.
Hopefully they’re planning to release the M103A2 and that’s why the base M103 is now so terrible…

“Focal length” doesn’t apply here as I’m not just talking about pictures, it’s true that I did compare it with multiple images, the one in the post is just for closest visual reference. My main reference comes from something real as I live near one of the actual tanks and the new in-game size is definitely inaccurate.
Besides, the model isn’t even the biggest issue here it’s the armor that really bothers me. It’s that they made this thing into a slug that gets one shot easier when such a large nerf was not needed for the M103, the T58 on the other hand… that thing needed a tweak or two, but as far as I’m aware no one was complaining about the M103 in such a way that it would obtain such a colossal nerf.

-60 plus mm of possible frontal armor protection isn’t considered a big change to you? ok bro, whatever you say. I will give you one thing, after checking myself it isn’t that huge of a downgrade on every shot type like you said. But it’s still bad

Idk why there’s people coming in to defend Gaijin on this one lol. You guys do know these are unnecessary changes for the M103 Right? Changes that don’t really seem to have much of any positive impact at all.
I mean, you could always pen the LFP with guns with 220mm pen and such on the small slit slightly under the UFP/LFP seams. Only difference is that it’s less of a volumetric hell because back then the tiny plates easily overlap.
Yes, the volumetric is better for sure lol I’m not crazy enough to say it was better before… BUT it’s still an unnecessary nerf that should put the tank down in BR a bit.
