The Type 74 main battle tank, manufactured by Mitsubishi, was adopted by the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force on September 5th 1974. The tank was not delivered to other countries, but remained in service for almost 50 years. It was withdrawn from service only in 2024.

About this tank
- The Type 74 Red Star was part of a training unit where it played the role of an opposing force tank — representing the USSR — which is why it bears a red star marking. Its appearance and premium status are the only differences distinguishing it from the researchable Type 74 (C). It is equipped with a laser rangefinder, and its 105 mm L7A3 gun features a two-plane stabilizer and access to APDS and HEATFS rounds.
