Definitely true. But I’d reason a recreation based on those drawings would be much more historical than what we currently have. And also-somebody correct me if I’m wrong-such a recreation would have no more guesswork than modern MBTs due to classified documentation
Well, Gaijin added the Ostwind II and Zerstörer 45 based only on written descriptions. The twin-gun mount of the Ostwind II is of unknown configuration and was made up by Gaijin, while the Zerstörer 45 was nothing more than a test vehicle, its representation in-game as a fully fledged SPAA with ammunition-carrying capacity was therefore also made up by Gaijin. So, I would say that what we have for the Ho-Ri II should be more than enough…
The side by side mount is the only option. Over-under gun mount was deemed unsuitable very early on due to making the vehicle too tall, and 18 Ostwind 2s were found in Czechoslovak inventories in 1947.
Twin gunned Ostwind is not really unknown, infact one was captured by Czechoslovakia.
This “Ostwind II” was equipped with 3,7 cm flakzilling 43 on Panzer IV chassis.
Very bad side sketch I made few years back

Again all just written descriptions with not a single picture or blueprint, we know the mount is side by side with 300mm space in between and the turret “resembled” the origanl Ostwind, but that’s it. We don’t know how the mount or the turret actually really look like.
Indeed, we don’t. But it did exist.
Maybe when someone stumbles upon the long-lost ostwind 2 schematics in the german archives we can correct it.
I wasn’t denying that it existed. I was saying that if Gaijin is truly worried about accurate representation, we have more than enough detail available for the Ho-Ri II. If they say we don’t, they’re being hypocritical.
For example, I personally think the Coelian should be returned, since both the chassis and the gun existed, and we actually know what the turret looked like because photos of the mock-up exist.
I don’t understand why they care whether a vehicle was fully constructed irl as long as enough details are available, because the game has almost nothing to do with history. WWII and Cold War vehicles from opposing nations run around on the same teams, on maps with skyscrapers, and they still pretend they care about historical accuracy? not to mention all the classified stuff that have completely fictional specifications…
Was the AA gun mount also based off of anti-air meant to defend ports or something? It was not a new idea.
The rule is have to be unique parts. Blueprint is only for ships because you can’t really trail them.
Coelian To my knowledge had no unique parts unless things changed.
The Gerat 341 37mm gun is the unique part, and it was made and tested
Okay if that’s true and meant for the Coelian then there is a argument.
Here is a pic of the twin mount, specifically made for the Flakpanzer 44/45 project

See, the thing is, we have documentation that at least 4 prototype Gerät 341 guns were manufactured…
But this has been given the designation Fledermaus, which is entirely unrelated to the Flakpanzer project, and belonged to a project for twin 3.7’s to be mounted on planes (Ju X88 off of the top of my head).
We don’t actually know if this photographs is the Gerät 341, or the Fledermaus, but they certainly aren’t the same thing.
The rearfacing autocannons are just peak
We do have those, and that’s what Gaijin probably used to make the Ostwind II. Though they got the turret completely wrong as its way too small to house the gun it currently has. The big issue with the claims that at least one Ostwind II was manufactured is that even Ostbau admitted in late 44/early 45 that they simply didn’t have the production capability to manufacture the Ostwind II. In fact, they were even struggling to produce the Wirbelwind. So it’s highly unlikely that the actual Ostwind II was built.
As for the one captured in Czechoslovakia? I’m going to wager that it was a field mod.
The debate is whether it was set up like this.

Aye, the problem with that configuration is that the gun doesn’t physically fit inside the Ostwind turret. Even if you modified it, you still wouldn’t have enough space for the ammo or the crew, if I remember correctly. Ultimately, that’s why they redesigned the turret to enlarge it, and the gun was modified to have the barrels side by side.
Until we know more it’s not right or wrong to be the way it is.
Yeah, pretty much; it just needs a bigger turret since the one on the model rn is physically impossible.
Hence, in picture 1, realistically, you need to remove the flooring. The gun is mounted on person who did that model didn’t.
