Something feels weird about those IR missiles.
I’ve seen 9Ls ignore flares from front aspect.
To be fair from front aspect ir depends where the missile sees the flares. Example, i’ve downed someone while my lock was trembling because of the flares , but instinctively i understood that the guy doesn’t defend, just throws flares and if i shoot even if it goes to flares the missile will cross paths near the plane before the flares.
Similar issue when you are directly behind at close distance (1-1,5km) , if the opponent doesn’t defend and flies straight it can pass the flares and take the kill ala Python 3.
That’s all good but before this event 9L and R-60 were easily flared from the front without defending.
AIM9L needs a buff by the same amount that the R60 needs a nerf.
AIM9L ignores all engines and R60 ignores all flares. Needs fixing.
R60 is ignoring flares with zero throttle and dozens of flares in a notch. Some one has got to talk to the balance team and make AIM9L useable the R60 flare-able again.
unless you have clips showing this i refuse to believe its true.
the 9L does not ignore engine heat, its a potent IR missile and the r60 will barely ignore flares.
ik Ir missiles in this event feel stronger, but its not to this point
I have 3 days of the event so far!!!
F4E is utterly useless. I hate the US so much then I play the Mig23 and it’s a breeze.
Just for you if I remember and can find this post later I’ll screen shot my results for the 4th cycle of the current event. It’s early in the morn need to sleep.
Not great now, yeah but either you weren’t here when the 9L came out with the A-10, or you don’t remember how crazy strong they were when that update launched. For 3+ months those damn things were unflarable and extremely hard to defeat. All while they were sitting at 9.7…
Both R-60M and AIM-9L feel the same to me as before.
I wonder if the fact that you guys are targeting F-15s and other top tier jets with hotter engines, with people who don’t properly cut afterburner and allow the engine temperature to lower while deploying a flare makes it seem like they work better than before.
But I am flaring them just the same, even when the enemy is 1km away in my rear.
If you cut afterburner and flare and you are still getting hit, you are probably re-engaging the afterburner too soon. Allow a second or two for the missile to properly lock onto the flare, and preferably maneuver a bit away from your flare, although it often isn’t necessary.
I’ve never had an R-60 ignore my flares.
And I’ve never had an AIM-9L ignore someone’s after burning engine.
