Yeah, VK 30.02. I was reading about reloading data for .30-06 and had that on my mind haha.
I think that just reinforces my point even more. What difference is there between the T25 and M26 situation than the VK 30.02 and the Panther D that justifies the difference in BRs? I’m not saying the Panther D and VK 30.02 should be the same BR as the M26 and T25. I’m saying the VK 30.02 and Panther D should be the same BR, like the T25 and M26 are the same BR.
I think that if the transmission were fixed (i.e. 6 forward gears, 2 reverse gears), then I would be perfectly fine with the 6.0 BR, and would even say it is warranted.
However, since it has only 3 forward gears and 1 reverse gear (meaning that the acceleration leaves a lot to be desired), it just seems rather mediocre. Maybe not enough to push it down to 5.7, but definitely on the edge.
Unfortunately it is basically impossible to even bug report the transmission as the only online available source I have is Hunnicutt, and while I’ve tried, I can’t find the source he uses for information on the T20 online (that being “Notes on Materiel, Medium Tanks T20 and T20E3”). Hunnicutt is only a secondary source, so another source is required, and unfortunately all other secondary sources also end up using Hunnicutt as one of their references.
how are people complaining about the T20 when it is already one of the best 6.0s? 76mm shermans were already pretty good and T20 fixes their main downside: poor reverse speed. ive been using it a lot this event, consistent 5-6+ kill games. If youre struggling with this thing because you try to play it like a panther and duel panthers/tigers at long range thats on you
I’ve managed to find another secondary source besides Hunnicutt that mentions the T20, and more specifically, mentions the torque converter. If this goes well, then perhaps the T20 will have the 6 forward gears and 2 reverse gears that it should have.
Having a vehicle with APHE made the Sherman II much better in the hands of British players who had to deal with crappy solid shot damage so the same Sherman got a higher BR in the British tree.
Players complaint and Gaijin gave it APCR to justifiy the higher BR. The end.
I would expect the T23 to actually have worse mobility than the T20 due to its higher weight and lack of a good transmission (I think Gaijin would just copy the transmission of the T25 to the T23).
I guess it would be capable of reversing faster? But the reverse of the T20 is still very good, and assuming the transmission is fixed in the future and that the T23’s transmission would be copied from the T25, the T20 would have noticeably superior forwards acceleration.
Ferdinand is made on a base of Tiger 1 P prototype but have another number of gears and gear ratios ingame. Maybe T23 will get more adequate transmission.
According to what I’ve gathered the change to the gear ratios has been implemented on dev 2.31.1.35.
Live server is currently at 2.31.1.30 (I think it’s 2.31.1.27 but I was told it is at 30 and I am too lazy to check in the actual game), so this will be fixed on the live server probably very soon. They implemented it exactly how I told them to implement, so I literally did their job for them.
