Normally the T in front of numbers for American aircraft normally are for Trainers like the T33.

The T-33A was regularly fitted woth 2x mg when operating over Korea, not exactly a powerhouse.

There is an upgraded AT-33A that could also carry up to 2x1000lb bombs, rocket pods etc.
