It seems that the RWR on the Su-30SM2 is bugged. When an enemy aircraft is using its radar in my direction, the RWR doesn’t show anything, and I’ve even been hit by an AIM-120C missile out of nowhere.
I don’t know if this has to do with the type of aircraft using the radar against me, or with the vertical angle/coverage of the RWR when the enemy aircraft is flying slightly above me.
At first, I thought they were turning their radar off, but I noticed this has happened several times.
perhaps the missile was in the RWR dead zone above or below the aircraft
For god Gaijin, I have sure this RWR is not working well, It should be remade. I can see a lot of guys around me in the same altitude than I, and there is no ping in the RWR.

In conclusion, the 30° limit is for azimuth direction measurement, not the ingame ‘dead-zone’. Two ‘disk’ like antenna for above and below do exist.

In this replay link, following me “THEnotoriousAIM” - pretty much in the beginning of the match I defeat a few missiles and the RWR goes completely silent for a few seconds until I then get smacked by an R77-1. I don’t feel like that should be caused by the RWR deadzone.

This Su-30SM2’s RWR is completely blind. I died several times in a row today—even when I tilted the aircraft to point the RWR with the wing to try to detect a missile, it wouldn’t pick anything up, and then out of nowhere a Fox 3 missile would appear.
