AMRAAM is useless past about 30km at the moment. Even C5s get kinematically defeated at like 40km quite easily.
MICA IR would be deadly out far further than that
Aim120a should be possible for em currently. Afaik. It isn’t in-game tho
I’ve not seen any information to suggest MICA should out-range AIM-120B
IRIS-T should turn better at close range due to being slower overall
I expect ASRAAM to be much better at medium range with better Tim to hit, while MICA would be better at close range thanks to TVC and better at long range thanks to the Datalink (which is still not confirmed for ASRAAM)
MICA IR should actually not outrange AMRAAM (even the A/B iirc). It should have best have around the range that the current MICA EM has, which is still insane for an IR missile
I do believe MICA IR, ASRAAM and similar medium range high maneuvrability IR missiles are indeed going to be OP.
Going to be hard for America to compete with the short range Aim9X, or for Germany if they only get IRIS-T

which is exactly why i dont think they will add IIRs for a while. now image 8 of those mica ir on a single rafale. i dont think it outranges amraam but it would have the same range or more cus u wont be able to detect it from a long range launch n fly straight to it. as for maneuverability i think irist is better but mica ir is already good enough in terms of maneuverability especially if they fix it.
End of next year is my guess.
Does MICA EM even need to have it’s range increased? It has already been demonstrated that it can hit a head on target when fired at a range of 80 km; and to my knowledge no one has claimed it should have a maximum range of more than 80 km.

IRIS-T only does 50G in game as of right now. With 50G+ for the MICA EM with these proposals… MICA IR could end up out pulling IRIS-T.
Id not be surprised if Gaijin limited it to the same if/when added.
Depends on how the choose to model the ASRAAM. Could end up with Mach 3 max.
Wouldnt be surprised with how they’ve treated the Typhoon so far.
Alas, that would require buffing the AMRAAM… Someting they dont seem to want to do.

Yeah I had a lapse. I forgot the aim120b max range was 80/90
Fairly certain someone was saying that on TVC it would be more than 50G at some point in the last hour or so
Something that should be noted.
IR missiles do not have time to hit to gain values, which will put some constraints on both the MICA-IR’s maneuverability and range. They’re not massive constraints now mind you, but assuming gaijin doesn’t change how stuff is modeled, it would make the IR marginally worse then the EM.
Nevemrind I just checked and lmfao the mica is the one radar missile without time to hit to gain values, no wonder it bleeds speed like it does
