Apparently not according to a thermal view of a MICA launch, timestamp 1:10
It’s most probably just residual flames of the engine burn off. Several primary sources have recently been found stating that MICa should burn in less than 3.5s
Thought the same too in the past
Turns out i was wrong and it’s actually residual heat from the exhaust (at least most likely)
Several primary and secondary sources point to 3.5s with a high thrust, as stated by Vizender
The very high thrust could also explain why the residual heat lasts so long.
Wouldnt be residual thrust just like the magic 2 has
unlikely considering the known thrust charts
So viridiano has been nice enough to record some videos for me on how a reworked MICA would look like.
- Burntime reduced: 6.7 seconds => 3.5 seconds
- Motor delta-v reduced: ~1,100m/s => ~1,000m/s
- Thrust-vectoring angle: 2.25 degrees => 5 degrees
- Drag slightly reduced to keep same range as before
This is the end result of the performance of the MICA in a HOBS scenario.
Here are the related reports on the MICA:
MICA missile should have thrust-vectoring angle of 5 degrees // Gaijin.net // Issues
MICA missile underperforming in turn rate // Gaijin.net // Issues
[DEV] - Mica Incorrectly Modelled // Gaijin.net // Issues
Here’s current MICA compared to reworked MICA in BVR scenario. The much higher initial acceleration will allow users to disengage sooner and not have to stick around providing datalink for longer than necessary.
Can you do in a BVR perpendicular scenario? Like, I want to know how the fixed MICA Vs old MICA bleed its speed.
Holy speed bleed
That’s crazy, because even know you can disengage earlier than other fighters. I use MICA in BVR and it is against noobs which spam everything without DL or the more competent ones, that crank, but I disengage first nonetheless
Video coming up shortly.
Part of it seems to be that the missile isn’t lofting for whatever reason despite the guidance logic being the same.
Yup, currently you already can disengage pretty early, this might make you more survivable than already are.
Was the loft tuned too? It only lofts by 5° currently.
I think we are at the point where mica is going to start requiring these changes as opposition gets better, so hopefully the devs can start working on the model soon!
I’m guessing guidance parameters need some tweaking to prevent misses at close range with the new model? Current MICA easily hit that target while proposed rework missed badly.
Would really like the directional warhead modeled first though. Should make the missile much more reliable in dealing fatal damage instead of “severe damage but the enemy is still spamming all 12 of their R-77-1 at you despite not having any control”.
The loft was unchanged, nothing was changed with guidance.
Ahh okay, so some range on the table still too.
its not, it lacks terminal and hobs maneuverability, and it has no reduced smoke motor
You know he is referring to the amount of material sources used to model it, right? Although technically the Phoenix is slightly closer to being most accurately modeled - all of them are still far off.
the end result is that hes still wrong, the amraam isnt any more accurate than other missiles ingame.
Tf are you talking about? There is no opposition yet. Nobody has anything remotely close to as good as the MICA, and nobody has anything announced for this update anywhere close to the MICA or Rafale either?
Even considering the near future, pretty sure its been stated no 5th gen IIR missiles are coming to any nation anytime soon, which means the literal only avenue for “opposition getting better” would require SUBSTANTIAL bug fixes and/or buffs to all other nations ARHs before the MICA is even touched just to have balance, which gaijin doesnt seem keen on doing, cuz theyre too busy buffing the Rafale more on their quest to crack the 70% avg winrate and 2.0 avg KDR for their favourite plane.
Did DS hack your account to try to make it seem like other ppl were supporting his horrible plans for game balance or something?
