Id like to think id know where it would fit after playing it so much and reading so much of its documentation and manuals at least… Scimitar and scorpion were a british counterpart to the sheridan so makes sense for the scimitar to be same BR as 76mm sheridan
The Thermals and LRF came before Mk.2
The Scimitar Mk.2 is basically a late model FV103 Spartan with a late model Scimitar Turret.
If you want a Scimitar with LRF and Thermals there’s quite a few options:
Scimitar E/SPIRE, with Thermals and LRF
Scimitar E/SPIRE LEP, the above but with the Cummins Diesel
Scimitar E/SPIRE LEP EM 235, the above but with a new final drive + uprated engine, and upgraded thermals and FCS.
Scimitar BGTI LEP, a Scimitar E/SPIRE LEP, but with the Sights and FCS from the Warrior.
(There’s also an experimental Scimitar with the TOGS sight replacing the old IR one. But I have not idea about the FCS)
da12thmonkey has a good write up here:
I knew ive read something like that somewhere, but couldnt find it again and thus i didnt mention it.
Anyway, more mobility and LRF is a yes from me.
Personally before another Scimitar I’d like to see some of the Scorpion mods:
e.g. Scorpion IFV or SPAAG
or even the Scorpion Kastet hehehe
I trained as a reserve armored gunner in the mid-80s on the
, a Canadian 6 wheeled AVGP that had the Scorpion turret and 76mm low velocity gun. Unless Gaijin pulls it’s head out of it’s ass and fixes HESH, that poor thing will suffer greatly, and you’ll be lucky to scratch the paint on anything in game.
dont worry mate i have you covered.
I own the technical handbook of the scorpion and have a R.A.R.D.E report on the 76mm HESH shell to make sure anything related to them is done right. from my report the 76mm should behave pretty much exactly how the 105mm HESH does in game (however slightly slower shell velocity) the LAV with scorpion turret will be on my watch too
Actually I was talking about this:
Would basically be a Bradley without the Tows on a better chassis.
Eh, the HESH is extremely similar to the 90mm HESH found on the Italian Aubl 74 and C-13 (Which works quite well in my experience) in terms of explosive weight etc[1], so the overpressure performance should work out the same, and with 80mm of pen [2] it should actually be able to upper front plate a Panther etc, so I wouldn’t write off 76mm HESH immediately. Putting around 5.3-5.7 would be fair IMO.
