The report they link to wasn’t even about Aster (but was accepted).
i find it almost unaaceptable for them to not fix a new vehicle just because the fench players werent loud enought, atleast we have some chance to get multipath esentialy removed acording to this Community Bug Reporting System, wich would be great, but i can see them come up with some dumb reason to do it for the BUK3 aswell since, cant have a russian vehicle be worse hm?
MP limit is the same for every missile in war thunder. even for a2a sarh, arh missiles. if they reduce it they will reduce it across the board not just for one system. anything past the 80s can work upto 10-20m.
Duplicate was accepted actually: Community Bug Reporting System
I’ll honestly take the duplicate at least something was accepted
Aster-30 missile does not meet required scenario // Gaijin.net // Issues
Aster-30 should achieve a maximum speed of Mach 5 // Gaijin.net // Issues
Thanks to Mulatu for his sources.
Has anyone reported the fact that they didn’t model lateral thrust?
The missile is designed to be hit-to-kill and lateral thrust greatly helps with that.
I feel that Gaijin should either 1. Model lateral thrust or 2. Adjust the maximum pull/AOA/maneuverability so it acts like it has lateral thrust(increased hit chance)
I wouldn’t even know where to begin with writing a report like that, just curious if anyone has considered trying or has sources etc.
On the Russian dev-stream, they stated that the lateral thrust will come in a later update.
But, it was still reported for now as information on the lateral thrusters were forwarded, such as the lateral thrusters providing 12Gs additional overload. The dart of the Aster itself is 60G. So overall the missile should be able to do 72Gs overload. Would probably be the most maneuverable missile ever seen in the game once they model it, and probably for the foreseeable future.
[DEV] Aster 30 Terminal Dart Incorrect Overload // Gaijin.net // Issues
Thanks to you and others who spend so much time trying to get things fixed 🫡
The thread topic has been updated to include a list of bug reports and their current status for SAMP/T and its affiliated systems.
Wouldn’t the 60gs be after the initial booster ran out?
I don’t see how the tvc on the dart would activate if it’s literally attached to a booster
Besides 60 Gs isn’t all too special considering most ir air to air missiles are around that figure
(Off the top of my head, basically all r-73 derivatives hit that figure, wouldn’t be surprised if most tvc western equivalents are also around that)
Yes the initial booster would limit everything to be 50G.
Total it would be 72G for the dart when working with the lateral thrusters. Can’t imagine any missile in the future to be added would be able to maneuver better than that.
Block 1NT (not NG) has the exact same motor, aero and weight as the Block 1, the Block 1 thus has the same kinematic range of 150km but is limited by the radar/battery of the missile
So I’ve already been told
I used to think that the SAMP/T radar might be overperforming since in the radar files it is stated as 80km against an RCS of 3. Sources show that the SAMP/T has an “intercept range” of 35km against a fighter (approximately 3-5m^2 rcs), which if we take it at face value would mean the radar is overperforming by twice the range.
See attached image
However a primary source on the radar shows that the Arabel radar is actually very close to realistic. So kudos to developers on that. Mulatu is working on a report regarding the radar range.
But I’m very curious as to the sources that the developers had used that allowed them to come very close to realistic values.
Further, the intercept ranges as I had suspected very recently, is actually the ranges at which the system can guarantee destruction or no-escape zone.
Has anyone actually made a report yet that the ASTER 30 cannot physically reach 100km even with ideal test conditions? I tested an F-15E flying straight at 45,000 feet and the missile exploded at 80km and at 60,000 feet the missile started to fall out of the sky at 70-80km and exploded at 90km.
i think there is a report from dev server times, its accepted but uh, they dont care i guess
We have a report for Aster-30 to be modeled to physically reach 150km, rather than trying to hassle the devs for a meager 10km more.
if that’s true (which it seems to not be because of your next statement), why on earth would they put a 150 km missile strapped to a vehicle with a radar that can only utilize a 5th of its range
This has been discussed as a known issue with the original SAMP/T. The Arabel Radar has always been the factor inhibiting the system’s true capabilities. Of course with the original kinematic range understated for years, the SAMP/T NG would fix this problem.
The SAMP/T’s naval counterparts used the EMPAR radar, which did have the range to not bottleneck the Aster 30 Block 1.
