180 degree sector atleast it have.
In manual nothing about limits. In anothet ±110
Is there any source for its proximity fuze range? 2m for such missile doesnt really make sense to me.
SAMP/T was originally designed to fulfill Ballistic Missile Interceptions, but was pressed into a more general purpose role. The 2 meter proxy is roughly accurate as the missile kills via Hit-to-Kiss. The moderate proxy added was to fill in a margin of error where the missile would barely miss direct impact with its target (explosives were not active during this test).
Huh, that is the first time i hear about that method. It seems there is still much i need to learn about missie technology,
The proxy’s sensitivity was also originally set to a 60 degree margin, but this was reduced to 30. I believe it might have to do with inhibiting the confirmed kill on target.
Hmm, quite an interesting interceptor strategy. Is ‘Hit to Kiss’ a small peck on the cheek sort of thing or is it a big old smooch on the lips? Who knows.
I mean, it’s French so I think it’s goes a bit further than that ;)
I think Aster 30 B1 is just gonna be underperfoming. I really doubt they will fix it in the live server. I seen most of the bug reports get fixed, but a few updates ago we did the same for Tornado A-200C and it never got fixed, only now is one of the accepted bug reports finally coming through.
Seems it will just be another Italy situation, where they acknowledge the problem silently and do absolutely nothing about it
I dont know that sounds kinda weird honestly.
Functionally, these kinds of missiles either have this kind of proxy or simply don’t have any at all. Patriots come to mind immediately. The primary purpose is interception of Ballistic missiles, proximity fragmentation doesn’t decisively kill fast-flying hypersonic ballistic missiles since they can fly faster than the proxy can react. Similarly to Patriots with proxy, they are only there for a moderate degree of increased effectiveness against smaller targets. These missiles have to be small, fast, maneuverable, and precise.
Their primary purpose isn’t interception of small aircraft. In fact, repurposing towards this has hampered the effectiveness of Aster 30’s Ballistic Missile Interception capability, which is why the Block 2 was outlined with very different requirements. Direct impact with a Ballistic Missile assures it cannot accomplish its mission. Proximity Fuze results in situations where the target is able to continue its mission or do unwanted damage elsewhere
I’m not sure, but maybe his message was refering to the “hit-to-kiss”
As for Aster 30 Block 2, it seems its develelopment has been halted for now unfortunately
Yes, it looks like Aquila will be the next missile integration. Though some improvements on B1/B1NT aren’t out of the question
I hope they make Aquila solid booster + ramjet sustainer + solid propellant terminal dart with a swappable seeker (i think it was one of the considered choices and it seems the most promising from an outisde POV)
The proxy fuze of the Aster missile can be reported, and likely will be reported.
Source? Apparently from my rudimentary googling, it’s supposed to be 6 for each MSE.
If SAMP/T NG is added to Denmark in game one day, it will most likely be more similar to the french one, as they were bought with Thales ground fire 300 :
You broke the link by adding the center placement at the end.
oops, fixed
