its good at BVR but its close range performance make it so worth it even if it isnt the best at bvr
Expecting missile to hit there is like expecting a sieve to hold water.
What’s not important about a Fox-3 is range performance, it’s the flight performance within 10-12km.
The reason for that is wt is a game, it’s incredibly easy to avoid missiles.
Long range launches result in the missile being very low on energy, so the enemy player can just not fly straight towards the missile and it will miss on 30+km launches as well as the fact they have plenty of time to react to the missile coming towards them (due to it being low on energy and the 16km seeker on all Fox-3s).
So the meta is close-medium range performance, which R-77-1s do very well in due to the fact that missiles have more energy to manouver, are faster and the ranges are closer which give enemies less reaction time.
Missiles can also come from more unpredictable angles in close range scenarios.

Notching?
There’s hundreds of guides for that.
Please, learn how to do that.
Here’s a clip of me notching without using chaff.
AIM-120Ds are no different from other AIM-120s besides the fact they have no IOG drift.
No, it’s just you.
We do not.
We do not
Only in extremely niche scenarios, the 77-1 outperforms the ER in almost every scenario.
That drawback is also its biggest advantage.
In short: rather than blaming the game, other players, your vehicles and whatnot, I suggest taking a loot at what you’re doing and focus on improving the way you’re playing first.
It very much looks like you don’t know what you’re doing at all 80% of the time which is why you’re struggling.
Guess what, you do better in the video game if you learn how to play said video game
Maybe I’m wrong, but according to statshark you’re lvl 38 without a single game in jets. How did you manage to compare those missiles?
notch plane first, breaks DL once plane cant see you, then notch missile, why wouldn’t this work?
In theory, the notch angle required for the launch aircraft and missile might be different. So you notch the aircraft, breaking the DL, then when you notch the missile, the launch aircraft re-acquires you and then restores the potential for DL
I just ignore this however and just focus on defeating the missile and largely ignoring the launch aircraft entirely
Not how that works. DL can never be restored. A singular break is a permanent break. If the host radar gets notched and can’t see the target anymore for long enough the missile just won’t use the host radar going forward even if you reconnect
su-30sm
rafales sling mica from 40km
40km MICA…???
Do those even hit??
If you dont defend.
yes, i have to go defensive while everyone is 40km out. then i die to either micas or aim-120d
Does that mean they hit?
No
Why are we dying to 40km MICAs
They’re the single worst Fox-3 at range
EVERYONE has to go defensive
If you don’t defend from missiles, guess what happens. You get hit by missiles.
Insane thought I know

You’re lvl 38, how are you getting killed by MICAs if you’ve only played Rank III air??
GNSS only provides a higher hit rate against enemies when ground multipath is involved. If the enemy performs standard evasive maneuvers and deploys countermeasures, under normal combat conditions, it doesn’t differ significantly from other missiles.
Is this ragebait or you actually do think so?
Tbh it feels like Ragebait. Especially considering his level
