You know that they perfectly track the nearest player through objects if no one is in range, and have a near instant reaction time would they enter LOS, also infinite magazine depth and no reloads don’t help. At least they don’t only engage within the NEZ(and don’t shoot down some types of guidance ordnance) so can still be handled on occasion.
Also they get to Freely shoot on the move too, which the player equivalent can’t. And no search phase either. So the first thing you know is that you are being launched at because the S-300 / MIM-104 have already oversaturated the RWR.
Basically if you don’t have someone baiting for you there is no down time. The only hope is that you outrange them.
The AI is barely functional, is it in a practical sense, but they are extremely basic and don’t rely on the vehicles sensors to do the work. They basically have ESP and aim bot and will snipe everything out of the sky with ease. OSA would not be able to see AGM-88s in the first place, the radar is absolutely awful on that thing.
New idea - Let players spawn one of the AI controlled SPAA from nuclear thunder in a normal GRB match and then every nation is on equal footing, no more Pantsir bias! :)))
this pantsir sm sv vehicle seems so strange to me. is there even any information on it? literally the only real life picture of it is from a russian telegram channel. other than that there are a few online articles about it which document its development, also showing some 3D models of it
Despite what some people claim, the seeker photos are mockups and there is zero evidence the kh-38MT has ever been produced or flown.
Furthermore, the specs on the seeker which do exist (a brochure from a Chinese arms show, common for stuff that doesn’t exist) show that even if they ever built the kh-38MT, the seeker head is dramatically over performing.
Gaijin basically wanted to give Russia the best IR a2g missile so they just made it up.
It shouldn’t seem that strange given the track record of the Pantsir S-1
The whole idea behind this variant was to move it towards a more mobile chassis and to devolop smaller missles to help against saturation attacks. The base concept hasn’t changed.
They can, multiple trees can use the SA-8 in GRB. It performs basically the same there as in the event, except the maps are much harder for the SA-8 player to maintain track on aircraft in GRB when compared to the very flat event map.
Yes, the SA-8 is identical to the event one right now. Both use the old missile flight model that will very reliably hit anything you track (which is super easy with radar screen assist). The FlakRakPz uses the new missile flight model that makes it pathetically easy to dodge.
All vehicles should have this assist by default honestly. I shouldn’t have to tap into my radar screen to actually get that assist, once it’s locked it should automatically be adjusted to track in third person (as that is how most advanced vehicles operate irl anyways.) It’d be nice to have that as a togglable option.
The smaller missile is real and is being used by the Russian federation now and that really is the basis for the system. Instead of making another truck mounted Pantsir or a module for the current Pantsir they decided to make the tracked version and add the newer missiles.
