I check stats constantly, it helps me know who in my team i can rely on, and if an oncoming enemy is a real threat or not. It takes all of 5 secs.

I think it depends on the quality of the player and how competitive they are. Any serious players / squads do this. Its an enormous help if you want to win, Im not sure why you wouldnt use it.
Example, Im in a fighter and two players are coming up at me from different places, if one is nub and one is not then I take out the experienced player and deal with the other one after.
If I am in a tank and see a player in an spg 1.2+ k away I check his card, if he is experienced I know he can see and hit me and I know to be careful. Its not rocket science
I have never thought I needed to check someones stats to play at a competitive level in air RB.
I updated my former reply while you replied with examples. if you really want to be competitive then you should also be aware of your opponents capabilities.
I don’t think you understand. I don’t have to do that to be competitive in air RB. I don’t see why other people are tryharding to that extent either because air RB is not that difficult. I could understand in a more competitive enviroment.
I dont play air RB, too slow and dull for me so I cant comment on that. In AB ground and air its a huge help. As to the tryhard comment, if anyone isnt trying i dont want them on my team.
Me not trying very hard is superior to 90% of this playerbase doing their best. The playerbase overall is extremely casual and doesn’t bother learning complex mechanics.

I really don’t see this as an ego thing… I see it as the community being casual and not bothering to learn game mechanics, which is an objective truth… Anybody who DOES try to be good at this game inevitably ends up in the top 5-10% because its just not hard to do so… you writing this off to ego would be a cop out on your part.
The RN Alcione wasn’t even on the wiki for like… a month after it was added to the game.
Pages are 50/50 either written (with love and care, admittedly) like 10 years ago and full of useless info or just empty lol.

even these are often insanely wrong due to as you said being outdated or often times simply just wrong even if written with flavor

I don’t see why the overall consensus here is that this change was bad overall. I don’t like that they removed a few functions but overall I think the UI was improved on design and readability. I think it’s more polished overall.
To be honest, I care more about my medals. The problem now is that the medals I have obtained cannot be displayed directly, which is a bit of a blow to me because I have spent a long time trying to obtain them.

Agree with you, so a big page to do so little things whether from the aesthetic or from the space use efficiency or convenience is a very failure, it looks like a few years ago web games. Maybe gaijin should think about to change the player profile page back.
