The new M103 model vs old

I’ve noticed on the dev server the M103 frontally is significantly weaker than the one we have currently.

The beak of the M103 is way weaker now as before there was a 10in cast piece sitting right there where the plates meet. I read a few documents pertaining to the M103/T43 hull and it’s usually implied that the part where the beak meets is thicker than 5 inches but also Tank encyclopedia says there’s not documentation on how thick the actual beak is.

I just wanted to know if this is a historically accurate change where the two plates meet only offering this amount of protection.

(But then also immediately beneath the beak, it’s offering protection similar to old M103?)

To be honest, its armor has almost no gain, especially the turret armor, which is actually easier to penetrate than the current one and is basically one of the weakest 7.7 heavy tanks

I enjoyed it tbh, it’s been a while tho

So the slow tank with badly performing AP that can’t scratch a T-54 won’t even have armor anymore, great

You can take a look at the armor cross-section from the technical manual. The armor of the new M103 roughly corresponds to this image, although there is no certainty that the image is accurate.

Nerfed armor and nerfed AP performance. Thank you Gaijin.

So down to 7.3?

Nerfed AP?

Yes, uncapped AP is underperforming as Gaijin has implemented it. Gaijin is using standard slope modifiers but reduced the flat pen of capped AP, so sloped performance is also reduced. Uncapped AP tends to shatter, which is what Gaijin wants to represent but they don’t then adjust sloped performance to represent real world performance.

When you hit the front armor of the Black Panther with an AP weighing 23kg and exceeding 1000m/s, there is a high probability that it will bounce

I have found a bug report that dives into the issue and articulates it better than I could.

If the HEATFS is removed…

This is great, but he is still undetected.

Why would that matter? We already see heat-FS at as low as 5.0 I don’t think it having that round should keep it at 7.7.
