Lmao.

PL15: SOOOOOOOOn™
pl-12a is pretty good (imo second best overall missile in the game) but pl-15 is more of an analogue to meteor, not the pl-12a
not a meteor analogue
You you’d put it over either the R-77-1, AIM120D and MICA ?
Honestly, I’d be hard pressed to rank those missiles. r-77-1 is good at basically everything, but MICA, AIM120D and PL12A have specific strength and weaknesses that it makes it hard to put one above the other
I think aim-120d is best overall missile overall currently, with pl-12a second then r-77-1, then mica.
Mica and r-77-1 from what I can tell just lose too much energy really quickly compared to the former 2 at ranges more than ~15km.
true, meteor will probably just be straight up best missile in the game other than big missiles like the aim-424/174 or r-37m

R-77-1 is faster than the aim120 and pl12a missiles for around 20s, so it keeps a lot more energy and has better time to target well beyond 15km. Mica is a looot faster for about 10s, and has much better time to target than those 2 for up until 15km yeah, but below 10km it’s actually unholy. I’ve killed people flying sideway/away from about 10km away and was surprised my missile connected that soon, honestly felt like firing a magic 2 at a target 2-3km away
i feel like that’s only true for people flying straight, the moment people turn, mica/r-77-1 seem to make big over corrections, causing them to corkscrew and lose a lot of speed compared to aim-120d/pl-12a which is really annoying
I don’t play the r77-1, but from my experience MICA loses much less energy than last update when turning (aside from the funny 180 shots in very close range), but still remains a sub 30km missile overall. It’s however so fast that it’s NEZ is signficantly higher from escaping targets. Got much more kills against people cranking away and not chaffing properly.
that’s why I say it’s hard to compare the missiles. MICA is basically in a different category, being optimized for close/med range. R-77-1 is an all rounder, while PL12A and Aim120D are more long range focused
the corkscrewing is a global issue tbf
either from the stupid aoa every missile pulls or the guidance being fucked or both
It’s probably more pronounced on r-77-1/mica because those missiles have more drag than the pl-12a/aim-120d which makes them feel worse.
overall agree, but the r-77-1 maneuverability really only comes out in dogfights, in like 95% of cases, with the new maneuverability buffs aim-120d/pl-12a got, I think that it’s more than good enough that I’d rather have the extra range those those missiles bring over the r-77-1/mica. Mica’s seekerhead being harder to notch though is an added bonus that’s unique to it.
I’ve seen lots of people sharing issues with corckscrew, but I really have not been affected much, not to the point I’d consider it a real problem. Hvae had more issues with missile damage (which apparently got fixed today ?)
I see. I have to say my playstyle fits the MICA well, because the rafale is such a good plane to play defensive and bring enemies to my NEZ. Sure, I would not mind a meteor or two to contest the early engagements, but I’d still focus on a MICA heavy loadout for the rest of the game. The MICA is also surprisingly good when lobbed from Mach 1.9 at 15km altitude against enemies flying relatively low
Isn’t the Pl12a just better than the 120D in every way?
ive seen it on the 120D aswell, idt ive seen it on the PL-12A
i genuinly think its cause all the missiles are capable of like 30° aoa plus now so it fucks with the incorrectly tuned guidance
