I’m referring to when it’s about at the 10 second mark in your video. And I hardly ever try to shoot at the angle you are shooting at with its low angled pen. Generally shooting at 45 90 degrees downward.
According to this paper (page 87 to 88), the M230 is designed to be capable of hitting a 3m x 3m square with at minimum of one round in a 50 round burst at 1000 meters, in a hover above the ground effect. The test data in the paper says it is capable of getting at least 1 round in 50 to hit the target 3m² area at 1000 meters 86% of the time. The overall dispersion means 75% of ammo in a 50 round burst will impact a 50m² target area around the point of aim.
The dispersion becomes significantly worse at 2km, where 35% of a 50 round burst will hit within a 50m² target area. At 3km it can only get 9 rounds of 50 in the 50m² target area. The gun cannot reliably hit a 3m² target point at any distance.
Yeah, the gun is frustratingly inaccurate IRL.
(Just so nobody gets the wrong idea about the paper’s status as unclassified, it says unlimited distribution on the cover page)
I can’t remember what 50m² at 1km is in mrad or moa, but it’s definitely huge and easily beaten by most small arms, even ones known for poor accuracy.
I have heard that it was designed to have the spread the be more viable for ground personal targeting. It would make some sense to the often very wide spreads
its really funny how accurate Ka50/52 gun is because IRL it vibrated so much that the heli could shoot its self
BMP-2 gun (same gun as Kamov) is also notably inaccurate IRL during full auto fire but shoots like a laser in game.
Meanwhile, we get the PUMA with intentionally low RoF to increase accuracy and Gaijin decides it needs to have really bad dispersion because reasons.
On this the standard to pass the advanced course exercise is 1 hit /30 rounds on a wheeled target.
Which is roughly 9m long
(not sure how usable this table is, so take it with a grain of salt)
TABLE X. DAY/NIGHT AH-64 ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE (TEAM/PLT)
ACFT 1 | ENGAGE STATIONARY TARGET W/CANNON | HOVER | 1000-1500m | WHEELED VEHICLE
HIT | 30 RNDS
That really is terrible, but it’s also the minimum standard. When compared to ground vehicles which seem to have pinpoint accuracy, this platform in game seems extremely lacking.

sounds amusing. source?
heres an image of the result
with certain countries bad IIF systems its hard to find anything else on this right now
ohh, interesting. I remember this picture, but self harm never popped up as the reason in my head
if you look at the damage its pretty clearly an impact from the direction of its gun
it makes sense. and if you remember how corrupt the industry is, it makes even more sense. I just never thought it would be this extreme
I saw a suggestion for giving the m230 proxy rounds (that exist for it IRL) and think that would be a great idea
it wont help against ground targets but would give ah64 some defense against air which it is currently lacking
The thing is that it would probably be good but i always kill air targets with my 30mm on my ah64d against cocky russian mains
I mean, ive had it miss planes flying in a straight line <800m from me, vs the russian helli guns that semi reliably hit 2-4km shots
Here is a video of me using the 30mm against planes, but i do understand what u mean Ah64d 30mm cannon
Sorry for low quality
Yep, I never really felt an issue fighting air with the AH64.
You just need to lock them and eventually you’ll hit because the average jet flies straight at me.
It was always trying to shoot ground targets, which the heli (I assume) is meant to engage.
