The M60 AMBT seems to be kinda fake?

All the info I could find online seems to show that the AMBT is actually an L3 Technologies “Destroyer” package that was rebranded by StandartBio, but it seems like they never got a working tank?

At least I wasn’t able to find any, and the tank in game perfectly matches the L3 Destroyer, as seen in their promotional video (that I can only find inside a (most likely illegal) reupload of a youtube video showcasing the upgrade).

None of this matters cause gaijin doesn’t really care about tanks being real or not but I spent like 2 hours researching this so I feel like I need to get it out there.

Re. As a small nitpick it should probably be called “StandartBio AMBT” or “M60A3 AMBT” not this middleground we have rn.

Re. Re. It should have 1200hp, doesn’t really matter considering a total of 6 people play the thing and it would only be an upgrade of 139 hp but still.

its actual name would be M60A3 SLEP (R)
(R) = Raytheon

The Raytheon and L3 upgrade packages seem to be different though? The raytheon one only provides 950hp and much less other add-ons (no 360 cameras, no 25mm etc.)

Raytheon SLEP program video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wwUTEkRano&t=26s

As far as I’m aware, the AMBT became the SLEP, then they removed the 25mm either after the rename or at the same time

Is it possible the L3 was just a demonstrator for the AMBT or was it a demonstrator for smth else?

I think the AMBT was the prototype for the SLEP, several features where removed for the final production SLEP including reducing engine HP which gave better fuel consumption and reliability, removal of the 25mm chain gun, electric rather then hydraulic turret drives, different FCS etc.

That is a separate tank.
The M60 AMBT is the very real option for the Turkish program where Sabra was chosen instead.

SLEP, while similar, is a separate variant.

There are Turkish AMBT documents floating around, and one on my main desktop.

@Gundin34 Fake vehicles are not permitted in War Thunder for over half a decade now, and calling M60 AMBT fake is 0/10 ragebait.

M60 AMBT in-game has 1200 horsepower.

Turkish AMBT documents as in the brochures? If so I’m genuinely curious to see them and they don’t break TOS afaik.

Does the statcard not show peak horsepower? If not that’s entirely my bad but it shows 1061hp at 2400 rpm.

Calling it fake was a joke as I haven’t been able to find any proof that there were any produced/tested in Turkey, which was kinda the main point of this post before it got derailed by all the SLEP stuff.

Statcard shows current horsepower, so if it’s not spaded you don’t see the spaded horsepower.

M60 AMBT alongside Sabra were tested by Turkish forces.
I tried remembering the search terms I used for the last time I found documentation, but I can’t remember.

I’m not getting on my main desktop to give the official name of the document at this time, so… for now just know the document exists.

I found the PDF I believe, only avaliable on WayBackMachine now since StandartBio isn’t selling it anymore.
Still fairly weird for L3 to go through a turkish generic equipment manufacturing company (I’m assuming this, since Standart never made military equipment before or after this afaik, and the specs given in the L3 video match the AMBT exactly) to sell their tanks, it’s not like being “local” was required or even gave them an edge over the competition considering that at the very least the GD 120S and the Israeli Sabra II were both in the running (and the Sabra won)
Thanks for the tipoff about the PDF!

That do be the one, though I didn’t need wayback when I found it. XD

Seems like documents need some preserving,

Current AMBT’s presentation is simply fake because Turkey has nothing to do with this tank’s development.

Aside from that its a real tank.

i dont know a lot about american tanks but theres always a high chance that the name is wrong or its a specific configuration that can only exist in a vacuum, separate from other variants. theres plenty of vehicles like that in game elsewhere
