The Kh-38MT may not actually exist

Companies advertised stuff that isn’t fully developed yet all the time. If people sign up as customers then it gets put into full development and production, if they don’t it quietly dies. For example the Typhoon (ASRAAM with a HEAT warhead for use against tanks) got advertised at trade shows and then faded into obscurity when no one ordered it:

What’s the difference between KH-38MTE and MT?

E means export.
Afaik just a export designation, no real difference.

Very well researched, and I’ve always felt that something wasnt quite right that no one had an equivalent to this absolute monster of a missile.

Isn’t that bit weird. Export variant exists but local one doesn’t?

Does it?

No one takes real rockets to the exhibition.Real missiles can only be in a military base. And since this is an exhibition, these are mockups and it may be empty inside.

The thing is that the KH-38 has been shown once in 2009 and then almost
10 years later in 2017
and they went from this:

to this:

so to me it seems like they have been development going on for almost 10 years on it
and there is the tendency of the russians to have multiple different seekers for the same missile
for example:

  • Kh-29
  • R-27

so it might be the case that they have the capebility of the Kh-38MT but simply dont want to use it for some reason, like cost, not being suitable for the strike missions they are doing or simply a low suply of them

MTE-export version

Im not, ive stated I’m not 100% sure it doesnt exist, just that current evidence overwhelmingly points to it not existing. I am fully willing to admit it exists if someone provides evidence beyond 15 y/o mockups and some brochures.

Multiple is a stretch. Theres either 1 mockup pictured at 2 seperate MAKS, or 2 mockups at MAKS 2009.

The Su-75 checkmate is advertized for export despite only being a mockup. Its possible they were looking for additional funding or expertise for the other variants and it never came through.

Existed, its been removed from the modern iteration of the brochure on the Rosoboronexport website, as has the MAE (active radar), MKE(satellite only), and the cluster warhead (no identifying designator)

I already covered those pics, the 2017 one is a Kh-38MLE NOT an MTE. Source is in my original post

That is clearly labelled as a KH-38ME and that is 1000% a laser seeker not an IR seeker.
