Even the wt wikki has absolutely zero information on the 30mm cannon for the kikka other
Tan “A fighter variant for intercepting B-29s with improved Ne-20 Kai engines and two Type 5 30 mm cannons was under development during 1945, but the war ended before there was a prospect of completing it.”
However a quick google search shows the type 5 30mms were never intended for mounting in an aircraft and were naval mounted autocanmons
you cant use wt wiki they dont ever have anything useful lots
No, i stated above what it is
Seems like they were naval auto cannons. Kikka has hard proof that it flies right?
yes fly only once tho
naval auto cannon no, 30×122 mm is specifically design for aircraft
theres a reason why it doesnt have lots of ammo, since its also belt fed
I spent over 100 hours reviewing kikka mate believe me it misses the criteria to exist in game
Then it should be alright, some other prototype do have guns when they never mounted IRL (but were meant for them)
The kikka flies as testef with the 500kg weight to simulate a bomv for ant8 ship purposes
then you dont have as much free time as me. mate
Hardly it was never tested with the cannons.
Ir was flown as an interceptor of bombers
I mean was years ago, nothing has changed, now were off topic

i mean im doing a suggestion on the cf-105 rn, and it was intended to have 30mm ADEN cannon, but never fitted because it wasnt finished
and they prioritize A2A over guns anyways since guns=obsolete at that time(they were wrong)
the cannon was presumably tested, has ammo that is made, although i cant rlly find any documentation for it
the guns, ammo, real, shooting them? hard to find
eh maybe, maybe not, maybe you didnt look hard enough
but anyways 8.8k post, 0 proof of it exist, only newer brochures and mockups
Key word is presumably
It means we dont have factual data for it
Oh i looked mate believe me, i was actuslly on the other side of the argument many moons ago justify why it should be in game.
the J2M5 Model 33, was developed with two 30 mm Type 5 cannons. This 30 mm version was designed to be a more powerful offensive weapon, but it never entered mass production due to war-related shortages.
Thats the wt wikki, ive yet to find a document stating they actively flew them outwith one trialed plane with next to no documents on
i will stand my ground
im lazy rn, so heres chat gpt respond
- U.S. Naval Technical Mission to Japan Reports (1946)
- After Japan’s surrender, Allied technical teams examined captured weapons.
- These reports often give approximate muzzle velocities, including ~770 m/s for the Type 5 cannon based on test samples and engineering analysis.
- Postwar Ballistics Reconstructions
- René Francillon’s Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War and other technical historians like William Green and Shorzoe Abe list muzzle velocities in the 750–780 m/s range.
- The cartridge case (30×122 mm) is longer and more powerful than that of the German MK 108 (which had only ~540 m/s), so a higher muzzle velocity is plausible.
- Design Intent
- Japan designed the Type 5 cannon to intercept heavy bombers like the B-29, which required high muzzle velocity for better accuracy and penetration.
