Ask Gaijin that, they are the ones that decide which vehicle needs what.
It kind of does, which is why things get their reload speed and shells changed constantly in order to fit to the game better.

If those pictures are to be believed, left missile only has a thin ring around the seeker, while the ML’s ring goes back much further.
