it can recognize a pattern on the area it’s supposed to target, like a tank for example. If the tank moved in the area, it will still be able to re-adjust on it, assuming it didn’t move too far of course
It would basically make it LOAL, but with a limited capacity to hit something that moved a lot (because late activation of the IR seeker, 1.5km to impact). It goes without saying that on current WT maps it wouldn’t cause that much issue.
Brimstones IR being denied for being LOAL, i of course wouldn’t be opposed to the removal of AASM IR, if KH38 IR - the existence of which seems unclear - is removed as well
So the only proof of the damn thing POSSIBLY existing was at some weapons con where the pictures are crappy and only make things more confusing. I do NOT think that’s enough to add a weapon. Like how the hell they even get the seeker specs?
IR guidance on stationary targets is a new concept to me, which is why I’m not in this conversation.
I’m just glad to be reading things that challenge my understanding of things.
@Internationalism
If the conversation is to be believed, both Kh-38MTs and IR Hammers are potentially over-performing.
That has nothing to do with this.
The alleged way the missile’s supposed to function isn’t physically possible in-game right now.
No missile can do that, and they’d have to code it.
At least SCALP/Storm Shadow and Taurus use it, and probably many others
It’s usually done for 2 reasons, at least the way i understand it :
make sure your 2 million $/£/€ missile actually hits the target
avoid collateral damage
GPS can be jammed, and INS loses its accuracy, especially at extreme ranges. The point of IR in this case is realign the trajectory on the intented target, because even if you lost a few meters with INS, the chances of the same pattern (trees, buildings shapes, terrain, roads) existing a few meters away is basically null
AASM IR is more of a budget cruise missile than a CAS weapon tbh. As for KH38 IR, to be fair i don’t know, because little is known about this missile, as this thread shows
If that’s the case, then why don’t the Gaijins introduce the AGM-169 Joint Common Missile (JCM) into the game
Range up to 28 km, fire and forget, has a high-quality seeker. Can be installed on both helicopters and airplanes.
It needs to be introduced.
Explain to me exactly how the diameter of the missile matters for a staring fpa, please. In detail. I can explain exactly how it does not but considering you’re going “nuh uh” i would like you to respond first.
