If you plan to use it to find targets from 30km away that thermal optic will need to be cooled or it will lose it’s sensitivity.
Thermals is another thing that Russia are yet again behind on compared to the West. Especially Germany IRL the Pumas thermals are incredible

There is a difference between manufacturing high quality lenses for optics and manufacturing high quality digital sensors for optics.
Would a really nice set of lenses help a thermal imager? Yeah, sure. But it’s still a thermal imager even without really nice lenses.
Plus, France also has fairly nice lens manufacturers. The scopes for their modern sniper rifles are known to be of high quality.
Its a hyper specialized industry thats already oversaturated. The germans do make some fantastic thermal sights for tanks tho, like the ATTICA.
