oh is the IS based on the GR.3?, i thought it was based on the GR.1a.
It’s based on the Jag S which is the common form of GR.1 and a GR.3 all GR.3 is, is an avioncs uprgade and engine upgrade to the Mk 106 Eninge.
Ah i see, thanks for the clarification.
So the Jaguar IS could in theory carry 5x LGBs.
Given we know it can carry LGBs on the inner wing pylons and centreline pylon, the image above has an LGB on the outer wing pylon as well, so we could see 5x LGBs as a load out + overwing pylon missiles.
i hope it does as it would make it a very nice CAS aircraft, with just 3 it will be a bit underwhelming as a CAS aircraft as if your gonna have to use it at 11.0+ in GRB your competing with Gripen with its 4 GBU or Tornado with its 3X or 4X PGM/GBU
According to the following information, the Jaguar is was only removed from the right side of the gun in the second upgrade, plus the lightning pod, so the correct configuration should be the mk111 engine in the post-2000 version and a much better Radar warning system
The version shown in the promo image does have the improved RWR but in an earlier configuration from between 1999 and 2004 where the rear-facing antennas for the new Tarang RWR were on the back of the old ARI 18223 RWR installation above the rudder, and the forward-facing antennas under the nose behind the LRMTS installation.
Image is of Jaguar IS serial JS170 during the 2004 Cope Thunder exercise in the USA. AFAIK this is a DARIN 1 aircraft.
But like you say, aircraft in this configuration all seem to retain the starboard cannon that would stop them carrying Litening.
Among IS versions it seems to only be the later DARIN 2 Jaguar IS with Ferranti LRMTS replaced with Thales TMV-36 or DARIN 3 Jaguar IS with EL/M-2052 AESA radar, that have a single gun and can be seen carrying Litening.
Twin-Seat Jaguar IB Night Attack and single seat Jaguar IM DARIN 2 are also Litening capable - again showing a lack of the starboard gun (or both guns on the IB).
So gajoobles sniffed the glue again and gave it a BR of 11.0.
Too bad it’s not Russian or it probably would have been 10.0.
Not really, its in line with other attacks with this tier of AAM like SU25T,BM,SU-39
