Mate, why are you even trying to defend the J35X? It’s quite honestly the worst premium in game. At least the F104 for Italy went fast and could carry bombs, the J35X gets the worst rear aspects, terrible acceleration, extreme bleeding speed, and nothing else you can grind with. You are constantly in matches against all-aspect missiles (A-10s, Mig 21bis, MiG 23s, Su-22s, and more) with very little flares. Honestly, of the J35D wasn’t already 10.3, I would say that thing should be 10.0, and I am so thankful that I got done with the Swedish grind when I did, especially with how unplayable that air tree is, save the MiG 21bis and Grippen.

At 10.3 its very strong. Supersonic, with 6x rear-aspect IRs and CMs. That already puts it ahead of most other fighters.
Aim-9Js are not the worst rear-aspect IR missile. Those would be the Aim-9B or maybe the Firestreak It does not have Aim-9Bs or fire streaks.
Mate, he believes in the whole “+1 BR” lie Gaijin has spat out. You could literally show him the video of you being smacked down by an entire team of Hornets, and he’d still deny it. I’ve dealt with the same arguments when I wrote about how I was fighting Tigers at 4.3, Maus at 6.3, and plenty of other 1.3+ uptiers.
Then prove it. Show a match where you have faced an uptier greater than 1.0.
Because I would be willing to bet you cannot prove its ever happened.
Fair about the Bs, what I should have said was worst missiles at the BR. I would rather take the PL5s over the weakened AIM 9Js. At least I’ve had more luck with my missile not blowing up in my face with the Chinese stuff.
And it’s still in a worse spot at it’s BR compared to the J35XS. All high tier F-104s need to go down, the 11.3 104S should be 11.0, and the ASA should be 11.3.
There’s no way that that the J35XS is only 0.3 better than the Q-5s, Mig-23BN (neither have missiles), T-2, or the 9.7 harriers.

Some of those are fairly solid since the buffs. But I would compare them to something like the Hunter F6. subsonic, very weak rear-aspect IR missiles and no CMs at all.
J35xs at 10.3 is perfectly fine, just climb to altitude, use a singular chaff against any r3r/aim 9c and your good. Drop down and get at least 2-3 kills with IRST slaving. There’s much worst premiums such as the f104 TAf, the AMX, the F4 Junk and the f4EJ which is sorta meh

it’s still kind of middling but its nowhere near as god awful as it was
true. The only thing bad about it rn is that the occasional F5e FCU or f4E will still run train on it
