The IRIS-T sls should go to Germany as well if it's added soon

The IRIS-T SLS (Surface-Launched Short Range) air defense system merits inclusion in Germany’s military export portfolio due to its collaborative development, active deployment, and international exhibition presence.

Collaborative Development and German Export

The IRIS-T SLS system is a product of joint development between Germany’s (DIHEL) Defence and Sweden’s (SAAB)

exemplifying European defense collaboration. Germany has actively exported this system, notably supplying Ukraine with multiple units to bolster its air defense capabilities. In August 2024, Germany delivered the IRIS-T SLS system to Ukraine as part of a comprehensive military aid package, which also included ammunition, drones, and rifles . This delivery underscores Germany’s role in exporting advanced defense systems to allied nations.

Exhibition and Deployment

The IRIS-T SLS has been showcased at prominent defense exhibitions, such as the ILA International Aerospace Exhibition in Germany, highlighting its significance in Germany’s defense industry . Furthermore, its deployment in Ukraine has been documented, with These factors demonstrate both the system’s practical application and its prominence in Germany’s defense exports.

Conclusion 🟥

As a nation who has been largely involved in the manufacturing and development of the system.

It also markets, sells, and exports this system.

It is present at military exhibitions in Germany.

Ukraine has officially received a number of them via Germany.

Norway is one of the operators other than Sweden so we have two versions at least for two different trees.

The fact that the missile itself is one of the most prominent German military industries is more than enough reason to add it to this tree, and that is a thousand times better than adding nothing at all to the most played Nation .

uuuh- if im not mistaken the Eldenhet 98 (Giraffe 1X) shown here is currently only operated by norway and sweden?

I mean there is even a swedish soldier next to it, in M90 camo

If I’m not wrong that is just a tech-demonstration? If im wrong anybody can kindly correct me of course

Not saying it cant be added to germany if im right, just makes sense to use another system?

My friend My argument basically is it’s not necessary that this spaa should be in service with the German army and a reason why it should go there

Like how the it0 90m in the french tree even if the french army don’t use it it had a part in development.

As you said Norway is one of the operators and Sweden

One version go to the swedish tree with the swedish flag

And the other one in the German tree with the Norwegian flag

Why the norwegian flag? why not just a swedish flag? why not just use the standard export version in that case?

Also right now all norwegian and danish vehicles seem to go to sweden, i know nothing official but like- again, most vehicles from denmark and norway are going to sweden as sub-tree/premium vehicles

SLS range still too short I suggest we should have SLM

Np you get your swedish variant as in the swedish tree

And Germany because it’s not using it giving them the Norwegian variant just like how the french have a finish it0 90m understand my friend?

But it’s ir fire and forget that would be decent

I am fairly certain that it will come to the German tech tree in some form and variant shortly after the Swedish one have been released, dont you worry about it. I would say the same thing if it were the opposite way around with Germany receiving it first. Its pretty common that one nation gets a system before the other but eventually they both get it (if both operate the system).

Not necessary to be an operator but we have every reason to have it in the German tree and gaijin give promise to add better aa like pantsir to every nation and Germany is the most played one and this specific aa has been shown in a dev post

My thaught exactly, also both germany and sweden would get the Eldenhet 98 (Giraffe 1X) under swedish flag, since the french and finnish IT0 is finlands flag

Yes now I understand you thank you for the clarification ♥️

Giraffe would be kinda shit tho as the lowest range missiles they can get is 12k which atm doesn’t fix the pansir having the longest range missiles… mostly just adds a ITO and Rak Side grade sadly

Yea but i would see it as a testbed for future additions to the game, for a short range missile it will still be one of the best in the game so i would believe that in the near future they will add medium - long range variants of it.

Maybe when 5th gen aircraft arrive late next year I think

Because it’s German made 🙄

all im sayin is claiming a vehicle in service of different nations months before its added with a statsheet like this is very cliche. German main requesting swedish service SAM because it was part developed by a german private company.

Guess Britain gets a Bradley as it was part developed by BAE and everything with the L7 105mm while were at it.
Or America basically gets the whole universe

I remember MattAWG speculating it might go to sweden, other people probably did as well.
