I feel a strange sensation that the hurricane is not what is supposed to be,because it says that turns in 15s but in the last match i got outturned by a BF 109 ,Gaijin needs to be more honest
Air Sim?
Air Arcade?
Air RB?
If RB or SB,
were you using your flaps?
What was your initial speed?
What was the Bf109’s initial speed?
What do you define as “outturned”?
Were you flying in a flat circle pulling back elevator constantly, or were you flying out of plane doing little (semi-)vertical loops?
Were you chasing the enemy plane’s tail while they were chasing yours, or were you constantly rolling to point your nose at each other?
Did Bf109 use flaps while you didn’t?
Which Bf109 was it anyway?
Context is very, very important.
With sufficient initial speed (or sufficient altitude to constantly dive and maintain speed), and going for “roll and point nose at each other”, an F6F-5 can easily out-turn a Bf109F4.
While slow, and only turning in one direction and while flying like 200 meters above the ground without room to dive, the Bf109F4 will kill the F6F-5 without any issues.
Context is very, very important.
Stat card saying “X turns in Y seconds” is a useless stat because it lacks context.
Turn times are nominal, and not something that is accurate all the time.
The actual turning performance depend on modification status, speed, flap setting and pilots using the controls correctly.
The stated turn time is only for a specific altitude and speed and for continuous turns (ie how fast you can turn at that altitude and speed and power without losing energy) and if fully spaded.
Most aircraft can turn well below those times as an the instantaneous turn rate - which is how fast you an turn if you don’t care about losing energy.
Also which 109? Some of them (eg the F models) turn much better than others eg there’s a 3 second nominal difference between F and E models which is also easily observed in game.
It was a Bf 109 E-3
In which case refer to the othe points in all the reply posts :)
