From what I know, MMOs with multiple game modes tend to not have an even player split. Players concentrate lopsidedly in the most popular mode or modes and the others survive on meager scraps. So it seems completely normal to me that we have a couple modes towering above the others in popularity. It is the distribution you would expect to see. In turn that means the devs focus on those modes more and try to make them more accessible.
By WT standards I’m a fairly new player, I’ve only been playing since 2022. Like I always say in threads like this one, in 2023 I got my longest-range kill in GRB, I killed a T26E5 with the Jagdtiger on Fire Arc from circa 2700m (broadside shot, he was on the big central hill, I had flanked from the woods left of A).
If I was starting the game today I simply wouldn’t get that experience. On most maps I barely need to rezero the gun.
But you’ll find plenty of players, both veterans and noobs, who absolutely hated playing that large version of Fire Arc in WW2 tanks. And now it is gone from the bracket.
maybe on the maps you favor - CQ.
They certainly have a place in more varied maps, with longer distances like deserts or fields.
Very few tank battles actually take place in cities. That’s for infantry after the artillery has battered the crap out of it.
Many vehicles can be quite dependent on the map. Long reload vehicles like the Conqueror (not a casemate spg) suck in city maps. They rely on long distances to target enemies, brush off attacks, and actually create time to reload.
pretty much all the top higher tiered players back in the day favored same style of map a CQC map with many flank routes as in CQC like for example at toptier its all about reaction time many high tier players have really good reaction times or used to before premium spam
theres a reason advanced to rhine is one the most popular maps in tournaments
team based vehicles with long reloads usually suck without a half decent team just look a IS2 its just how this is until they figure out how to make teams work as a team it wont ever be balanced

I dont think those two are GREAT, but they certainly play pretty well for top tier, yes. Thats why i think Sun Sity is also a great map for top tier - as it encloses the MBTs not letting the spawn-to-spawn shooting. By that i mean making the MBTs move, and not stand on the fartherst possible position that allows shooting through most of the map.

To be honest this map is BETTER eastern europe in my opinion, however its still eastern europe. So yeah, i see where you`re going here
That’s the only advantage that map has.
That’s probably an unpopular opinion but I’d rather have a map that is fun and offers variety with spawncamping than a boring one without.
The conqueror is literally only viable hull down, if anything can see your lfp you are immediately dead, if maps were only cqc then it would be a 6.7 vehicle.
