The game really need RWR handoff function

RWRs developed since the 1960s, such as the AN/APR-25 (A-4E), AN/ALR-46 (F-4E/Kurnass), AN/ALQ-100(F-14) and AN/ALR-56 (F-16), have a “Handoff mode” in real life.

This mode allows the pilot and the RIO/WSO to designate a specific radar emitter as a priority threat. Once selected, the RWR outputs the unique audio signature derived from that radar’s pulse repetition frequency (PRF). These audio cues vary not only by emitter type but also by the radar’s operational state.

For example, the search signal of an SA-2 “Guideline” produces a distinctly different tone from that of a Roland SAM. Experienced aircrew can therefore identify threat types purely by ear, without needing to look down at the RWR display. In addition, sudden changes in tone provide immediate indications of critical status shifts, such as a radar transitioning to continuous-wave (CW) illumination for missile guidance.

A well-known example of this occurred during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, when an F-16C pilot successfully evaded multiple SA-2 and SA-6 missiles. The pilot relied heavily on the RWR’s Handoff Mode audio cues to distinguish between search, lock-on, and launch states in real time.

If a similar Handoff Mode were implemented in the game, players could identify threats solely through audio cues, even when flying aircraft equipped with older, less capable RWRs. This would significantly enhance situational awareness and survivability in markerless environments such as Ground RB and Air/Ground SB.

I know it’s difficult to implement, but if current RWR had more functionality, it would be significantly more effective in markerless modes such as Ground RB and Air/Ground SB.

TL;DR… ‘Handoff mode’ to allow threat identification solely by audio cues, significantly improving situational awareness and survivability for older aircraft in RB/SB.

Also just a keybind to turn off rwr would be nice
