Introduction
The Landsverk L-62 Anti-II, Introduced in Update 1.97 “Viking Fury”(2020) in addition with the rest of the swedish ground Tech-tree. Is a Finnish “Self-propelled Anti-aircraft gun” (SPAAG) and saw notable service in the Finnish Armed forces, who acquired six units of the SPAA in 1942 purchased by and built by Landsverk and equipped with guns by Bofors, In finland it was designated Ilmatorjuntapanssarivaunu 41 (Itpsv 41). It saw combat in the Continuation War when Finland invades the Soviet Union and the vehicles were credited with shooting down 11 Soviet aircraft. All the six vehicles survived the war and remained in-service up until 1966 as training vehicles.
It has now been 6 years since it has been added to war thunder, where it has remained fairly ub-changed. Many players like the SAP-HEI, It is mainly better against Ground vehicles as the 40mm bofors lacks its Bofors Predictor (M/35 and Gamma M34/38).
Short summary on what a Bofors Predictor (M/35 and Gamma M34/38) does
The Bofors Predictor (M/35 and Gamma M34/38) was a mechanical analog computer mounted on the gun that took the operator’s tracking of a target in azimuth and elevation, plus range and ballistic settings, and continuously calculated the correct lead angles for the gun.
- Operators manually input the estimated targeted aircraft heading, altitude and speed.
- The predictor converted that motion into a firing solution.
- Mechanical linkages transmitted the solution to the gun sights and laying system.
Functionally, all variants did the same job:
Turns aircrafts motion into a corrected gun aim to increase hit probability, the spotter at the rear handled the estimation and transferred it into the computer.
What it should look like in war thunder.
For the vehicle to function there needs to be a Vertical gunner and a Horisontal gunner to handle the gun. So realistically for the vehicle to function you need 3 crew-members to be at minimum crew-count.*
Ineffective Ammunition
The “Itpsv 41 L-62 Anti-II” lacks complete belts for dedicated AA and AT duties. Where every other nation in war thunder that sports the 40mm Bofors L/60 with a “Standard” belt with two unlockable Pure belts.
Standard — ( AP / HE / AP / HE )
HE — ( HE / HE / HE / HE )
AP — ( AP / AP / AP / AP )
With the way that belts works in war thunder the velocity of each round depends on the first round in the belt as most of us know by now. Is it supposed to be this way-? of course not- But it is what it is.
So for the sake of ballance with the SAP-HEI round it should include a researchable belt with:
SAP-HEI/AP — ( SAP-HEI / AP / SAP-HEI / AP )
“Faulty” Camouflage
Currently the “Itpsv 41 L-62 Anti-II” uses the whole standard set of swedish camoflages, while some units of the Itpsv 41’s did use the base camouflage most of them did not remain with the standard camoflage and was instead painted with the finnish forrest camoflage and equipped with the hakaristi, however in war thunder alike other vehicles it should be replaced with the finnish roundell-
“Incorrect” designation in war thunder
In War Thunder it is currently called “Landsverk L-62 Anti-II” now this isnt technically incorrect as long as you would list the operator nation as sweden. But its not- its Finland. So from that perspective it is incorrectly named. Since in finnish service it was designated:
Ilmatorjuntapanssarivaunu 41 (Itpsv 41)
A fix for this could be to just simply re-name it to the name above, or you can name it:
Itpsv 41 L-62 Anti-II
Polls
- Incorrect crew implimentation
- Lacking the functioning spotter
- Ammunition belt issues
- Camoflage “issues”
- Designation issues
So that is all of the current issues with the vehicle i have in mind at the moment. If you have anything else do comment and say so.
