The Stealth coating of the F117 scattered all electromagnetic radiation, no IFV like the 2s38 , Bradley shouldn’t be able to track it. it should also have a drag chute for landing.
I agree it is poorly implemented right now, but stuff like this is difficult to report without a good source.
It should be very difficult to track, but not impossible. Right now it’s very easy, which I agree is incorrect.
I believe this is in the works. It was spotted in a datamine and could come to DEV when it updates
Here it is Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3) - #2024 by Motherhen357
Being totally impossible to track is a major balancing concern as that renders SPAA like the Stormer HVM nearly unable to do anything about the F-117 and would result in the F-117 needing to move up in BR.
Better than it is now, yes. But I think there needs to be a limit for the sake of gameplay
Really? Never knew USAF created a black hole
i mean its a sub sonic plane if people can’t blind fire and hit it i dont know what to say.
With 0 prox fuse on the Starstreaks, you have to be very accurate, taking away the one thing that helps you land hits at all, is still going to make that a one sided fight
Especially as the F-117 can also still climb above most SPAA anyway. Especially if you cannot even detect the F-117 on the IRST either, then that makes the difference even greater. Its one thing to guide a Starstreak with no assist, its another if you didnt even see the F-117 spawn and start to climb
Fair, but I think this is a CAS problem in general, not just the F-117
Most ground battles are in daytime with clear skies, so I suppose the good old mk.1 would be just fine in detecting the F-117. I agree tracking is another story, especially if IR signature is reduced.
However, this is the selling point of the F-117 and without this advantage it becomes just another bomber, and that’s kind of lame I think
IMO the stealth/IR signature should be modeled as accurately as possible, but the BR should increase accordingly. I don’t believe it’s right to artificially nerf if there’s still plenty of BR brackets above it
I just think a certain degree of caution should be taken thats all. The idea the F-117 is totally immune to basically any SPAA is a tad concerning. Especially without making CAP viable, reliable counter with a notable SP cost drop.
I 100% agree.
One thing that complicates this question is that it’s stealth/IR model has to be the same in Air and ground modes. In ground there are balance concerns due to limitations of SPAA, but in air there are no restrictions due to how outclassed the F-117 is in air-to-air combat.
I’d like to see a 100% accurately modeled Nighthawk, especially for Air SIM, but doing so would like you say pose a problem in ground RB
Yeah, I guess the only real solution is just to increase the BR of it in ground, should its stealth tech get too good.
I certainly wouldn’t mind a BR or SP premium (maybe both)
Yep, needs to be right.
The 117 might actually be useful in night battles. 🤔
You mean thermal radiation, right?
Yeah but sadly there’s two issues with this
-
Night battles are rare, very rare
-
It still sticks out like a sore thumb on thermals
:-/
It has a drag chute in-game.
2S38 can’t hit F-117 even if it could lock it, F-117 is too far away.
It means they are skilled, cause proximity fuse doesn’t go out 10km with any sort of accuracy.
Every material we have discovered emits electromagnetic radiation in the IR spectrum. #edit above absolute zero#
Scattering radar emissions and preventing a useable return from going back to the radar and being discoverable/trackable by an IRST are very different things.
And it’s worth noting that one of the primary ways of scanning for /detecting /tracking stealth aircraft today are IRST systems.
There’s nothing that suggests the F117 would be invisible to systems that can track the F-35/22/B2
must be a very new addition, dont think there was even yesterday
It was added just today.
Hey quit being logical
