Nah, you did. F-5 fit the meta extremely well at 10.3 and was possibly the best 10.3.
I actually have no idea where i got it from, im ognna be honest with you. I think i just assumed it was double as it had 2. Its still cracked, or was. Now that its at 11.0 well have to see, but now it cant stomp down tiers, but i am far from saying it should be facing f16s, just like the j35xs which is now able to see such shit.

And no, I never died to an f-5c or an f-5e in any 10.3+ aircraft unless I was not paying attention. In fact, my only complaint was it’s busted damage model on release, not that it was “busted”, it has energy retention and that’s literally it. The MiG19PT is slightly superior and the mig19s just gives it no chance. The F-4E turns inside it at high and at extremely slow speeds.
it stopped being OP when it started to face Mirage 2000s. Now that M39/T160s are reverted to release (low drag and high damage) the f-5’s are balanced. But you cannot say something is “OP” when literally has 0.3 twr at most speeds below mach 0.98, has two 10g missiles and can’t surpass mach 1 below 4km of altitude against a bunch of stuff that carry four or more 18 or more G missiles, is either 300kmh faster or has much better thrust weight ratio, or anything, because except the f-8e, everything else is a combination of being faster and better armed and 100 percent having better TWR.
The Zero is 100kmh slower than everyone else, has little engine power and turns well while having decent MER. But yet people don’t think it’s OP. Why would you think something you can simply energy trap is “op”? Not everything in jet combat is “rate fight”.

“free” su25 kills? You mean you are inefficient in su25? I’ve consistently gunned down f-5s on su25 while dogfighting, be it C and E. Just don’t be a dingus having full loadout. The two r60m’s and the main gun are enough and necessary to survive.
yes, not being good also implies no longer being OP. Even a fully loaded Airbus A340-300 has higher thrust weight ratio than that thing. It also has the least thrust of any jet in game below mach 1. You literally take a whole minute to reach the speeds where you should sit at, which are speeds that don’t let you dogfight people because of stiffness.

Don’t make me started on the J7D which is like the second best mig21 after the J7E. It is stale as stale can be, let’s say it’s situational. The plane has extremely low thrust weight ratio values at most speeds and is slower than the a-5c which is an ATTACKER with the same airframe as a mig19. To add more insult to injury, it has two 10g’s at a BR where everyone has four 20g’s, And “the f-5c didn’t have flares”, yes the skoshi tiger in particular had. It suffers from the Zero syndrome: Slow, bad engine, subpar armament, but it is OP because it turns without losing speed.
Dude, if you lose any dogfight in a F-5 with their hilariously overperforming flight model you’re doing it wrong.
It’s by far the easiest aircraft to dogfight in. You two-circle everything, and win. Just hold down max elevator. Everyone else with actual flight models has to outplay you royally to win.

A MiG 21Mf , in comparison,is better below 500 and above 1000 km/h …at 1500m.
On the deck (100m), the F-5A/C will probably destroy you at 650-900km/h, everywhere else MiG gets it.
The problem is 2 parts.

You need to have good energy management in MiG, because as you said …you don’t press S and win and from experience toy with the flaps and tail vertical stabilizer a bit in the lows (if you mess it you die on the deck either by faceplant or by the enemy disenganging and regain energy and kill you) .

In a messy environment, you can’t overextend in higher speeds (because always there would be a 3 party you won’t see) and you don’t want to be at so low speeds (down from 500-600) for the same reason.
So it’s not that you can’t manage them , BUT you don’t want to either way…
And ofc as you mentioned one thing is you can press S and maybe win (if the other doesn’t know) and with the other you need to actually know what are you doing …
I think MiG 19 can beat F-5A in most occasions … gunfight.

Anyone complaining about getting slow in their F-5 clearly is doing it wrong, you literally only need to accelerate once per match, then you can throw the plane around with max elevator input and never go below 800 km/h. The only time you need to use airbrake is if you have to land and feel like doing it properly with landing gear, instead of belly landing at 900 km/h.

I can’t think of a single plane that an F-5 beats in a dogfight aside from maybe an F-4 in certain situations.
My F-8U/E beats it
My Su-22MK beats it
Mig-21/J-7 beats it
Even the brick that is AV-8C beats it with viffing.
An F-100D could probably beat it considering i’ve beaten an F-8U in a dogfight, well I was about to but got lobotomized by a Temu F-104.
