The event star system is just bad

yep ground events are way worse than air events.

I don’t disagree on principle, but there needs to be a progression system. It’s a pretty decent leaning curve, biplanes are generally more forgiving to learn for a new player than 4th gen jets with all the avionics and sensors. If all vehicles were available from the start most people would flock to top tiers, get frustrated and leave early. The only flaw of the system is how ridiculously long the grind is and that the game doesn’t incentivize players to try out more vehicles and tech trees.

Just because its normal doesn’t mean it should be like that. The current system is made to MAKE ppl buy the stages thats why the frame is so small and you get a discoun5 on the stars when reaching like 30k so you buy them because you think its more worth it now although they always make money because you only get pixels.

Task based events has already proven to be terrible. Id rather play some time on vehicles I want than trying to do random tasks on a t34.
Also it would make some people unable to complete challenge when they dont have certain tanks. How could you get even t34 without having t34 to do tasks?
And how about vehicles like ct cv 105 hp? It doesnt have smth similar in tt.

New players don’t realize just how much worse the old event system was. this is far better not perfect, still grindy but better. in fact the way it is now is due to player feedback.

We have a passive event system. It is called the free tree event. Available every day.

Even with the most score expensive events (45k per star), thats just 22.5k score a day. 2 hours of playtime.

Getting that 2 hours guaranteed is usually done through zombing, rigging/shopping (leaving after dying once because enemy is not pushover and joining another lobby until you find noobs to farm), unsportsmanlike behaviours (spawnkilling people on maps with no AAA. Last air event, I kept killing people in bombers flying low near airfields on Ruhr using third person mouse aim gunner to strafe people who spawned in).

If you do it through genuine gameplay -

1 kill is worth 450 score. With multipliers (0.9x for prop tier, 2.3x for SB), it goes up to 931.

For 45k star events, that’s over 46 kills needed.

Looking at some of my screenshots,

75 minute game, 7276, worth 15K progress

image

80 minute game, 5475, worth 11K progress

image

63 minute game, total is 7226, worth 14k progress

image

93 minute game, total is 3,633, worth 7K progress

There’s a pretty big variation in how much score you earn over a period of time flying props going for pure air to air combat. This is not entirely based on your skill either but time of day (amount of people also flying you can dogfight - the bf109 screenshot has me getting ~1 kill per 15 minutes without dying except 3 times because it was a very dead time of day)

On weekdays, I prefer to fly 1 full match and leave it at that - so 90 minutes/day usually, maybe 2 hours if it drags out. Might do 2 b2b matches if one ends early in 45 minutes and then I leave early next game.

If I wanted to do events, I’d have to ignore A2A combat due to its unpredictability in prey density and skill (10 enemies who are in VC and highly competent vs 10 enemies flying solo and competent, vs 10 newbies, vs 2 fighters and 8 bombers who J out when you approach them and so on), and instead fly a bomber for consistent guaranteed score for airfields/bases.

Furthermore, to ensure consistency I would want to start new lobbies on maps ill-suited for propeller planes flooding and diluting the player numbers to reduce chances I get caught.

Furthermore, to reduce frequency of getting caught I need to J-out/intentionally crash the moment I see a fighter to discourage them from bothering me by making it clear that hunting bombers in this lobby is just a waste of time.

Boom, you have air grind event induced ruination of an otherwise fun game mode driven by the very small amount of time you have to get tons of score and the best/most consistent way to get that score is anti-gameplay.

And now you are away for the whole weekend and you have to buy one stage because they removed stage 7 (because current event has 6 and you need 6 to get thhe vehicel) you aren’t allowed to leave one out or everything you grinded for is gone.

because the only point of grinding at all on here is so they have a way to gatekeep the reward? do you think anybody gains anything by somebody being forced to play tanks instead of planes or ships to unlock a tank?

I would, because they do it in a predatory manner rather than a fair one.

Agreed
Gaijin are the greediest company i ever saw
And i played on EA for some time so this means alot

The tasks are allready pretty long and if u cant play during the week you are screwd
And if u want to sell the vehicle u need to sell ur soul in return

GJ is greedy yes…
however the community is the worst it could be in the term of not reacting.

When i said (by mistake) why we shouldn’t be able to play anything (air/ground/navy) to do the events and just get the vehicle…
I got answered …it’s hard to grasp, but the events aren’t for casuals. Because having a T-34-85 extra, with premium…is not for casuals , right?

I said why the don’t do it like get the "200k points from X date to Y date " instead of cutting in 5 pieces (example ) of 40k per 2 days…
The answer was “but the nolifer will do it in one sit” … why should i care how the other manages his time?

You say things that will help the community, there is always someone to tell a BS that justifies GJs greed.
So is GJ greedy? As much as the next company…
Is it justified? Sure! I’d do worse with those players as community… They ask for it to be worse if anything.

Exacly and its not like 200k is small amount
I doubt anyone can do this in 1 sit anyway but even if he can whats the problem?

Dont know all about that chief, i just play normally and it works.

Sounds lot less like event issue and more YOU issue.

Normal events (ie. Not legends of victory) usually have one extra stage that offers what, 4 random modifications and extra camo, allowing you to skip one stage and still be able to get the vehicle.

I gave you examples of scoreboards, time needed to obtain that score and not only my score but others on my team.

Yes you did.

And i said i dont know all about that chief.

Its sim, im not qualified to comment on that.

I do mostly RB and event requires exactly zero changes to my playstyle (well maybe im not as keen to play with friends as normally because i want to hit the next match soon as possible).

Ah, I’ve read it as

“Dunno about you but”

The chief reinforced that vibe. That is, rejection of experiences citing you’re doing fine rather than “I don’t play that mode so cant comment.”

And fair enough then.

I’ll maintain my position tho, events tend to lead to really dumb gameplay that even tho I usually dont care about the event (I fly propeller planes, missile jet gameplay isnt really my vibe and early jet/korean brs are usually dead), still impact me negatively.

I couldve worder it better, i apologize fir that.

Lot of people get sweatier during the event, which is IMO both good and bad thing

Bad as it is harder to gain score but good as it forces you to do better. Unless of course were talking about unemployment lobby.

The community is the problem.
They feel doing it is an achievement , is something special…
Never, underestimate human stupidity.
That’s why GJ took advantage and passed everything to make the game more time consuming , so you’ll pay to save time.
And has nothing to do with skills (because people believe it has) . If i am not at home for a week because of work , but the next week i can cover up because vacations…that’s a “you problem” a “skill issue”, not flawed design made to make you pay.
