The Eurofighter Typhoon Balance problem and Potential Solutions

As it currently stands, the RAF Typhoon has a substantially weaker A2G loadout than either the German and Italian Typhoon as we are limited to the Mk18 laser-only 1000lb bomb whilst Italy and Germany gain access to the GBU-48 GPS+Laser+IOG 1000lb bomb. This is a significant and meaningful difference in performance and requires fixing ASAP. It is unfair that Britain is once again being artificially nerfed just for the sake of it.

This is perticularly frustrating as the RAF has most extensively deployed the Typhoon in Air to Ground operations in Libya, Iraq and Syria in various operations and is one of the best equipped in terms of that role, with loadout options that should be entirely exclusive to the RAF Typhoon such as the Paveway IV bomb. The fact the RAF Typhoon is actually the weakest of the 3 is deeply unfair.

So I propose a few possible solutions

  1. Add a compensation buff in the form of MMW Spear-3s which have recently been test fired from an RAF Typhoon FGR4, making them an RAF exclusive loadout option. These would help balance out the difference in A2G performance between the 3 Typhoons
  1. Remove Brimstones from the Italian and German Typhoons. Germany has yet to recieve Brimstones and will be fitting Brimstone 3s from 2028, but they have never used the Brimstone 1 currently in-game. This too would help off-set the difference in performance.

  2. Remove the GBU-48 from the German and Italian Typhoons and limit them to the Mk18 that Britain is forced to use, until such time that ePaveway II is allowed to be added to the game so that all 3 nations can be on par.

This is a major and significant imbalance which leaves Britain unnecessarily crippled in the A2G performance. It is clear bias against Britian once again, as we have had for a number of years and needs to be rectified.

  • Option 1: Spear-3s
  • Option 2: Remove Brimstones from Germany and Italy
  • Option 3: Remove GBU-48s until ePaveway II is added

either give all the same stuff or go back to only having what each nation had.

I side more on the one that stops having one meaning you have all.

Brimstone for Britain only and the same goes to each others unique ordinance options

You guys do realize that if we play this game then the UK typhoon will also lose the SPICE 250s it just got and will be behind again until we get MMW guided munition?(which we all know will never happen)

Nah, we’ll get MMW Spear-3s instead, so i’ll take the Spear-3s over the Spice-250s any day of the week.

Besides, with the current imbalance, how can you really ever recommend the British Typhoon over the German or Italian Typhoon. its objectively and factually weaker than the other 2 in A2G. So it needs something to compensate for the difference in performance created by the loadout imbalance

Sure youll get MMW guided munition as soon as russia has a comparable weapon so probably not in our lifetimes.

Easy ill just tell the person that ive never seen anyone ever use the GBU48s and they can confidently ignore them, because the other options are better.

Yeah, we should, its an RAF exclusive weapon that has been tested, it should be added as a compensation buff to make up the difference in A2G loadout

It doesnt matter, it is still a difference and the RAF Typhoon is still objectively weaker in A2G roles. This needs to be fixed. I think Spear-3s would be an appropriate upgrade to compensate for the differences in GBUs

ill take that.

We have spear 3 and brimstone.

You see that obvious bait would make sense if both germany and the UK had a theoretical unlockable MK3 radar thats better than mk1 and mk2 and germany players would still complain but since radars are kinda alternativeless and a2g munition isnt its just childish, low effort rage bait.

well no you dont, because Gaijin hates MMW guidance

salt the snail

bait used to be belivable

if you use anything besides the paveway 4 and brimstone on the EF you are doing something wrong

The GBU nobody uses unless its for LARP reasons?

Option 4:
All of those new planes should be given at least 15.0 BR in Air RB, as well as some other decompression things, it’s WILD this doesnt get mentioned AT ALL

What is wrong with all the eurofighter mains like seriously, between the germans ones that keep asking overpowered stuff because out of the 200° that the best new radar has they are missing 20° (and still have the 2nd best radar behind the other eurofighter radar) and now this post asking back for the spear mmw ?

Like come on it’s not even fun, it’s just annoying as hell.

4th best after:

  1. the Irbis (Su-30SM2) with 240° total gimbal
  2. the ECRS MK2 (British/ Italian EF) with 200° total gimbal
  3. the ES-05 (Gripen E) with 200° total gimbal

and missiles are baised in the notch it is way better to slightly fly away from then instead of staying at a perfect 90°

And to further add, maintaining datalink guidance during terminal phase makes your missile much harder to defeat, specially with AESA…
This isn’t even a funny ragebait post. It barely makes sense.

On your points:

  1. You personally are well aware of the developers stance on MMW Brimstone. That covers all MMW weapons including SPEAR, which has replaced Brimstone in some cases. SPEAR-3 is in no way comparable to GBU-48, which you will be aware of.

Developer comment: We’d like to mention that Brimstone will only have semi-active laser homing (SAL) mode in the game. The fire and forget mode and the active radar homing seeker will not be available for a few reasons. The primary reason is that this seeker utilizes the “lock-on after launch (LOAL)” mode, this mode allows the weapon to be fired in the general area of a target without needing any actual precision from the operator, who can remain at long range in complete safety.

We feel weapons that can be used outside of the direct line of sight of the target without needing any preliminary reconnaissance or direct user targeting are not currently workable for the game. Weapons such as Brimstone, AGM-114L cause a particular problem and similarly to other ATGMs that have lock after launch modes like the Spike and AJ.168 will not have such abilities in the game.

These weapon types present several issues all at once, they require no challenge to use effectively and have no counterplay options for those being attacked. The attacker can operate outside of the range of any anti-air system in the game, Brimstone is also immune to smoke, so this won’t help either.

ARH modes for air-to-ground weapons won’t be workable until natural and artificial interference to these guidance systems can be implemented, as there are no electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems in the game. Adding these weapons now would allow them to operate perfectly without any counter, which we don’t want to do. Additionally, at closer combat ranges ATGMs with ARH cannot distinguish between allied and enemy targets, and this would lead to a large amount of accidental teamkills as well.

  1. We consider if a weapon was Technically possible on a platform. Brimstone has been proven to be integrated on Eurofighter.

  2. GBU-48 has no reason to be removed from the Italian or German Eurofighters. There is a suggestion for a suitable bomb for the British Typhoon that leaves no reason or need to remove GBU-48 from the others. Community Bug Reporting System
