The Typhoon is still a good platform.
The Mk1 is still an exceptionally good radar which fixes the Typhoons biggest issue its had this past year
It is also getting SPICE-250s, and hopefully we can milk a little more out of it for this update.
Its also probably going to be the platform that will get advanced A2A, I guess within the next 6 months.
So how high a priority you place it is up to you, but it is certainly worth working towards and unlocking sooner rather than later.
As far as I understand, we currently have: a nerfed radar for EF De, a Mk-2 radar that hasn’t even been tested on EF, and OLS for EF De, which seems to exist, but not quite.
Any updates? I still can not believe, they changed it from 90° to 100° just because of ONE source(hensoldt), when there are ton of other sources, saying their is no difference between any of those 3, in terms of FoV.
maybe you can show us the “ton of sources”?
because as of now we have 1 source for the Mk.1…
Requirement:
must be clearly about the Mk.1
must be from something official, like from Hensoldt or INDRA,
also must be an clear result and not an asumption or quess,
also cant be to old since that would pre date the entire Mk.1 radar
as of now:
we will be stuck to the 90° because of Hensoldt for the time beeing, until we have an clear source was found or Hensold themself mentions an higher number.
I am still wait for Reply from:
Hensoldt: (Likely wont answer)
INDRA: (Likely wont answer)
Airbus Defence: 50/50
FOI to the MOD: result: secret
BAAINBw: Result: Secret
maybe we get more news on it from the BW once the radar goes in active service and not just testing…
We did not understood each other. I would love to know source for 200° and if it is being also that strict.
I do NOT know which value is correct, but all 3 have same search zone FoV.
The source from Airbus is Useless, because its from when the development of the Mk.1 Started, at the time there was no physical radar
Aka, it pre dates the Mk.1
Da, the Issue is Hensoldt, if they wouldn’t gave the wierd 90°, than we wouldn’t even be here since it would have the same 100° as every other ECRS, but sadly we have these 90°…
That was the least important thing in the message. I will quote chatGPT here:
“Airbus publicly states 200° permanent field of regard for Captor-E. HENSOLDT (Mk1) uses ±90° FoV wording. Leonardo/BAE (Mk2) emphasise multifunction EW/radar capability but do not publish an FoR value that differs from Mk1. There’s no authoritative public document that assigns Mk1 a strict 180°×180° and Mk2 a strict 200°×180°.”
And say again, I do not know which source or number is wrong.
