The Eurofighter (AESA) balance problem and potential solutions to rectify it

isnt that just something from janes without any actual sources?

Probably, I saw it posted in a magazine article from a pilot interview. Idk its source. Do you know its true aoa limit?

probably not

at least shouldnt be in game due to lack of sources

The real life limit is 24-25 on operational planes. The prototype was tested to around 29 AoA. AMK quoted figures are generally in relation to the 24/25 number.

This is from an interview with EADS test pilot Chris Worning in regards to AMK.

So in game it would be based off the 29 aoa soft limit and be even more op? Gah damn

It could be based off of the 29 soft limit or the 50 hard limit.

Sim duels in Eurofighter already devolve into slamming maximum AoA and rudder to basically thrust vector the plane at low speeds. AMK implemention would just be that but even more.

AMK please i need it for my gun duels

I’d honestly prefer all the Typhoons to have nation specific setups rather than try to balance them like this. Once you have one Eurofighter there’s is zero reason to grind another one when they’re all identical.

That’s a good question. Gaijin put the cart before the horse the moment they introduced the Eurocanards. The F/A-18A/C, including the one in the swiss subtree for germany, should have come with the Su-30 as they both have the AoA and missile capacity advantage (perfect counterparts). After that would be the time for stuff like the MiG-35, Su-35, F-16V, F-15EX, F/A18E, etc. and possibly the Eurocanards in a big update. The Rafale should have been implemented with its mechanical RBE2 with a following RBE2-AA variant later (like the EF came with a mechanical radar first and only now gets added with its AESA radar). Beats me why the order of introductions is so muddled…

Post is about German Eurofighter radar, very first solution: buff only the German EFT flight model. What 😂

Second solution is… interesting and pretty much heavily reliant on the devs unanimously agreeing on the +/- 10 degrees rightfully missing is an end of the world type of thing for German eurofighters… Not impossible, just highly unlikely

I would even say that the EF doesn’t have the weaponry to use the 90°/100° off-boresight ability at all. Neither the AIM-120 nor the AIM-9 will hit anything this far off-boresight (except the distance is high enough for the missile to turn but it will bleed an enormous amount of energy/speed without TVC) so the advantage will be negligible in my opinion.

The only meaningful advantage is the ability to fire and then turn 90 to make it easier to defend. I alraedy do this with the CAPTOR-M without too much issue (of course i cant go the full 90, but close enough that the last bit is easy)

Now both the Mk1 and Mk2 will be able to sit in a full notch whilst still providing a DL to the target, which wont change much, but the Mk2 will be able to go 90+ away from the target which imo, is not actually that big of a deal. The bigger advantage is better situational awareness of what is going on around the target, but again QoL advantage. Its not like the German Typhoon is limited to a fixed array or something

wait you guys are crying about AMK in the same time you get two ef-2000 with mk2 that isn’t ready yet?
big uffffff

AMK tests are done? MK2 tests are still on duty?

But yeah, gaijin/bug mods are is still … FoV isn’t FoR.
All EF-2000 should get the same capabillities or dont release mk2 eurofighters because they doesnt exist at the moment. Germany remodel some of their ef-2000 with mk.1 since 2022/3 so…

still on test phase… like i mention before…

addedit It’ll be not finished before 2028

Like the Typhoon IPA7 that has the ECRS mk1 and PIRATE?

little bit whataboutism…

They can remove the Pirate from german Eurofighter, BUT german has the first Luftwaffle EF-2000 with mk.1 on duty

Got evidence of that?

Deliveries began 2 months ago? but I have yet to see anything about them actually entering service yet. Date was next year I beleive for them to be operational. But Germany specifically took a worse radar to get them in service sooner.

But are you really arguing that Germany should get PIRATE, AMK and ECRS Mk1 and the RAF and Italian Typhoons shouldnt get AMK and ECRS because only germany has trialed them so far?

Then lets remove PIRATE, Aim-9Ms, Brimstones and Paveway IVs from the German Typhoons
