Gurantee the T-14 is going to stupidly under BRed
The T-14 will never be a good tank in War Thunder as the turret can’t stop even a Bushmaster.
Sounds like a marketing lie. it can clearly stop a DM83
So when you go to look up a vehicle’s mobility characteristics, it did not occur to you that checking it’s engine (power) might be helpful?
It’s really not, it’s quite a average vehicle at 11.3 anyways.
It used to be 11.7 but that was completely pointless as you had the superior T-80U there, the T-72B3 also has no business facing 12.7’s.
Pretty sure it’s closer to 600m.
Depends on the shell and its characteristics.
I usually get killed if the target is within 700-800m, but it seems to intercept more reliably past 1000m
Common ones like the DM53 L/55 Im fairly confident it’s further away
But even then, most maps, you are talking 300-500m at most. So its not relavent on most maps. Id get it if it blocked 4 rounds, even those fired 100m away, but it doesnt
I have some limited internal images of the tank, mostly of the turret armor layout
I’d caution against these predictions when we really don’t know what it would play like, given that we don’t have any similar cases in-game as of yet.
The APS could end up being incredibly strong and be able to intercept APFSDS, it’s reload and overall firepower could be incredibly potent and it’s mobility could also end up being cracked.
All of that combined and it should be quite a scary vehicle, it all depends on how it’s implemented.
At the same time, Russian MBT’s (so excluding the BMPT) don’t have a good track record: T-62 quickly got mopped by the Leo A1A1, T-64A was garbage on release, T-62M-1 was a waste of time, T-64B was garbage, T-80B got stomped, T-80U got stomped, T-90A was too little too late, T-72B3 was mediocre and the T-90M got curbstomped by the 2A7V. Only the T-80BVM enjoyed a period of dominance.
I know what it would play like. You have a 0-armor turret with no gun depression. You’d be repairing your breech constantly, and overpressure would obliterate your entire tank in seconds.
T-14 has no crew in the turret and new super Russian ERA it will be like a BMP-T but tank form.
The crew aren’t protected from a turret ammorack, nor does it matter because the number of internals will make you wish you were just killed.
Try repairing for a minute straight any time someone shoots your turret.
Furthermore, this one doesn’t get an ammo box under any normal circumstances.
You forget this is a Russian tank, it is Russia brand new super tank. It will not be bad in game
Even Gaijin has its limits, and may I remind you that neither the BVM nor the T-90M are objectively good tanks in the meta, even with their ERA acting up.
Looks at Soyuz
As I said, you don’t know how Gaijin chooses to implement it. It could very well have isolated ammunition in War Thunder.
Again: Turret won’t get destroyed if the APS is capable of intercepting APFSDS.
From what I can find it’s -7°, which isn’t too bad.
Granted, I haven’t found a primary source for it, but if it does end up being -7° with hydropneumatic suspension (though I’ve not seen it utilize the tilt function) available it could easily be 10°+ of depression.
Tell me you haven’t paid attention to the history of top-tier Russian tanks, without telling me you haven’t paid attention to…
Assuming you ignore the BVM duirng its prime, and still problematic vehicles such as:
BMPT
Pantsir S1
Pantsir SM-SV
T-80UD
and weapons like
KH-38MT and KH-31
and thsoe in other gamemodes too
Su-30SM2
Su-30MK2
Mig-23MLD
Su-7
Soyuz
SKR-7
AK-225
etc etc
Im genuinely shocked that the current top tier soviet MBTs arent a total and complete menace at the moment, but im certain that isnt going to lsat forever with the current state of every other vehicle type at the moment.
Kinda dreading it tbh.
T-14 will have the mobility of a T-90M2 with the best fire power Russia can muster.
An APS system that can intercept darts, new ERA (forget the name)
no turret basket, magic carousels, and all the buffs to make Russian tanks good.
we also have no data on the reload rate, Gaijin could just give it a 4 - 3.5 second reload for “balance.”
T-14 and Su-57 need to be the best in game Gaijin cannot have either system represented poorly.
11.3 BR too dont forget
None of which are MBT’s, which the T-14 Armata is.
Besides, if we’re gonna open the doors to any type of vehicle and/or weaponry, USA & Germany still absolutely own Russia in terms of OP stuff at high tiers across history.
Let me break it down for you once again:
- T-62 on release? Completely overshadowed by the Leopard A1A1 introduced almost immediately after.
- T-64A? Completely stomped by the MBT/Kpz-70 Terminators.
- T-64B? Utterly out-matched by the M1 Abrams and Leopard 2K.
- T-80B? Helpless against the IPM1.
- T-80U? Leopard 2A5 dominated it.
- T-72B3 & T-90A? Wrecked by the Leopard 2A6.
- T-80BVM? Enjoyed a period of dominance.
- T-90M? Once again stomped by the Leopard 2A7V.
- T-90M Arena-M? SEP v3 and M1A2 Trophy stomping it as we speak.
Being surprised that top-tier Russian MBT’s aren’t the best is like being surprised the sun rises in the morning.
Given the current state of air, bluewater and coastal. and for quite a while there, helis too… you actually can be. and even with the MBTs in their current state, they are still better than a lot also at their respective BRs, and the soviet ground tree overall at top tier is still like the 3rd or 4th best tree in-game. So its not really hurting them either.
But we cna gurantee that the T-14 will be good.
Yet people play as Russia, despite the tanks be “terrible”
If they were as bad as you exclaim no one would play them.
