But when Yak-9K received APHE, they wasn’t bothered to rise it’s BR immediately with APHE addition. Only after extremely long time of complains and thousands of battles where Yak-9K solo win every game
I think that we should rise to dev a question: “Why for X nation APHE is standard, but for different nation same APHE is balance-only item?”
Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with Cromwell V being pegged at the same BR as the PzIVH if it receives APHE. The mobility advantage of Cromwell is significant, as is the 2in bomb thrower.
I dont play lower BRs, so I cant really comment either way, but it to me sounds like like-for-like tanks might end up at a higher BR just because britain got APHE and recieve unreasonable BR increases.
Overall the post sounded more like a threat.
Cromwell has 64mm frontal armor there is no way it could be OP against tanks with +100mm pen.
But yeah, with APHE it should be treated as M24 chaffee
The fact that (our historical) APHE is being considered for British vehicles is a huge step in the right direction.
Now if only the same could be said about the rear smoke emitters…
We should just collapse British win rate 3.0-4.7, its only one thing that Gaijin can understand 😼
We have to give the others a chance somehow, god forbid a man have hobbies.
Would the BRs even need to be drastically changed that much? There’s only 3 tech tree vehicles that I can remember with it and the premiums are effectively minor sidegrades/reskins.
Valentine Mk.11 makes more sense at 3.0 so it isn’t lumped with the Mk.1 for whatever reason.
the Cromwell Mk.5 would be absolutely fine at 3.7 with filler as essentially a Chaffee without reverse gear.
The Churchill Mk.7 could mayyybe be problematic but the T14 still sorta does what it does but better and with a stab.
I think that most, these vehicles would move up by maybe one or two BR jumps (0.3 - 0.7 BRs)
The fact they’d get APHE doesn’t change the horrible pen of the gun or the bad shell velocity.
Most British tanks as these BRs have enough drawbacks (bad reverse or slow speed for example) make it so they arent really overpowered.
Im bored so I’ll just estimate what BRs they could go to, I’ll also include 6 pounder APHE as thats been reported and accepted.
Crusader MK.III: 3.0 → 3.7 (potential APDS addition too?)
Valentine XI: 2.7 → 3.0 - (Decent gun but very slow)
Valentine XI: 3.0 → 3.3 - (Good gun but too slow to do much)
AEC MK.II: 3.3 → 4.0 - (Relatively fast and great gun, especially with APHE)
Cromwell V: 3.7 → 3.7 X - (Even with APHE, it’s relatively comparable to a Chaffee)
Cromwell I: 3.7 → 4.0 - (Better than V as it has a 4 second reload and stab)
SARC MK.VI: 3.7 → 4.3 - (Highly mobile and quite small with a good gun)
RAM II: 3.7 → 4.0 - (Basically just a sherman with a better penning gun)
Churchill III: 4.0 → 4.3 - (Now the same BR as the NA.75 that has APHE)
Churchill MK.VII / Croc: 4.7 → 5.0 - (Could remain at 4.7 to be honest, but probably too strong for 3.7s)
Excelsior: 4.0 → 4.3 - (Fast and good armour, probably too good for 4.0 with APHE)
That’s just my estimates, I’d rather see these vehicles move up a bit and be more enjoyable to play than just remain where they are and keep being extremely medicore
Hmm
I couldnt think of anything too profound, they’re very boring tanks

In all fairness, the T14s armour is much worse than the Churchill
You can pen the T14s front turret with any gun above 90-100mm of pen
Same with the side armour, it’s only 50mm which isnt bad but it’s not great
They could leave the Mk.7 at 4.7, I don’t think it would be extremely overpowered there, it’s too slow to really go around slaughtering stuff
I’d leave it where it is, but correct the gun stats to that of the 6pdr Mk.3. Could always still split it into 2-3 variants to fill the 4.0 slot. I’d prefer having the current one with the Mk.III gun, and another with applique and the Mk.V gun.
So we have about half a step in the right direction, as it sounds like they want to sweep the idea under the rug as soon as possible.
Brits will only get APHE when it’s fixed and no longer a 360° mini-nuke…
So never
T14 has much higher mobility which means it’s capable of flanking a target.
A mention of it in the news post is a positive (half) step regardless. Remember, before this we had zero steps for a very long time.
