yeah,. what is really sad, is that the F3 is the same BR and just outperforms the Phantoms in virtually every respect without much effort
Additional question, how supertemp skyflashes compare to regular ones?
SuperTEMPs are near enough Aim-7M, slightly better even in a BVR because they have a slightly longer sustainer iirc.
Also the F3’s radar is near unnotchable
Wouldnt that justify F3 being higher BR than US navy phantoms, under the condition that decompression happens? I mean if supertemps compare in performance to 7Ms, rest of its kit seems better.
Oh i know, hard lesson learned. Its the one plane that i didnt expect to respect when facing it but it made me eat dirt more times than im willing to admit.
They should, but the state of BOL is so bad, that its very weak defensively and the turn performance is overall weaker than that of a none Agile Eagle Phantom.
With MP still as high as it is, its main strength as an SARH slinger is greatly mitigated.
If/when we get a BOL overhaul, then I would expect them to move up to 12.3 and ideally they’ll also get 1-2 Phimat pods as well. Which would be a greater boost when defending against ARH.
I know they are nerfed, but i finally got around to play them on EFT and i wouldnt settle for anything else even in current state.
But that just might be due to fact that i never got around to play yet with more than 90 CMs before EFT.
That affects all missile bus planes im fraid.
Wouldnt that be too strong on F3 early?
Not necessarily. Especially if they just limited it to a single Phimat pod that replaced an Aim-9. Then its just an extra 216 L-Chaff at the cost of an Aim-9L but would allow you to take more flares
Id prolly need to see how it performs with such loadout to pass judgment.
Yeah, If BOL got fixed, then the F3 wouldnt necessarily require that loadout, but should certainly be considered. Its the F3 Late which becomes non-optional imo.
imagine using JAS39A with skyflash at 13.0
Almost read this as F-4FG1.
Yeah, the F-4JUK has worse flight performance due to the worse engines. It should probably be the only 11.7 PD F-4. It’s not as good as the American and Spey Phantoms.
I mean it’s fine at 12.0, it’s not hard to play, it’s just a lot worse than the other F-4s and is on part with the MiG-23MLs. Drop it to 11.7 or give it AIM-9L and HMD
considering hornet is 12.7 and is much better, i doubt J(UK) would be good
I play it and I do fine
Every time I see the F-4J(UK) topic.
With every neglect which Gaijin showed us.
as one of those who has F-4J(UK) bought at full price.
I am just wondering when F-4J(UK) goes straight up high to 12.3 BR, thanks to the extra British tax.
We had four options which Gaijin could apply
A) We can lower the F-4J(UK)'s BR compared to counterparts like F-4J/S, which has HMD/AIM-7F/napalm that gives advantage when grinding TT
B) We can keep F-4J(UK)'s BR in 12.0 but sending every other better jets higher with decompression
C) Give AIM-9L, which is the key IR missile of RAF and was in the historical loadout of our Phantoms. It might be compensation for worse SARH.
D) Just give VTAS HMS, AIM-7F and Napalm bombs to make it a C&P version of USN F-4J. I know it is lame, but then balancing it will be a lot easier because Gaijin can use F-4J/S(USA)'s data directly.
But Gaijin decided to choose none of these.
E) keep F-4J(UK) suffer while it shares the same f-ing 70$ and same 12.0BR with F-4S but acts significantly worse either A2A or A2G in ARB. nothing but just for billing British Tax.
In this rate, as a joke, I can expect F-4J(UK) will go up straight up to 12.3BR and tie up with MiG-21Bison, Kurnass 2000 and F-4EJ Kai. :/
I simply do not understand why this gets brought up so frequently.
Even though HMD/HMS won’t affect much on the F-4 platform as long as it doesn’t have an IRCCM missile with Thrust-vector, I don’t think having extra features hurts.
I was mentioning it because of nothing but difference between F-4J(USN) and F-4J(UK). :P
You’re a minority in the whole HMS situation. I think you just don’t understand how much of a help it is to do off bore defensive shot when defending and enemy is out of your line of sight. If you’re that godly and never need to defend, then you’re excused from any HMD topic unless you just want to think you’re better than everyone.
Because even if it’s not always useful , it’s one of the things that you don’t think you need it unless you need it.
I got little experience in F-4J but in my games because this :
is not always possible
and i’ll add with RB gameplay and given what you have to go against, even avoiding dogfighting is not possible (unless your team is pretty much stomping the opponent) , if you get used to HMS it saves enough time and energy to be worthy of mentioning it.
And saving time and “clicks” is way underestimated. The less you stay on a target, the more aware you are.
And if it saves you even a second in a firing solution , it worths it.
Yes it’s not amazing , because of the missiles , but still is good enough to make you 1 sec faster and/or play with your positioning more freely.
Thats not my argument whatsoever, stop putting words in my mouth.
My argument for this entire time (which you can see if yoh scroll up) and even in different topics (which i can link), is that missiles aviable to F-4J/S get little actual use out of HMS.
95% of both sidewinder and sparrow launches would happen exactly the same with or without HMS and the remaining 5% of launches dont justify portrayal of HMS as some giant advantage over not having it.
Its impact on overall playstyle of F-4J/S is minor.
