The Avro Shackleton has wrong sound and volume

One of these sounds was recorded on a phone from far away and the other was recorded by professionals with quality microphones. The phone sounds different because it can’t record those sounds.

So apparently this guys phone has a better quality microphone than what gaijins using? I can give you multiple videos of this same sound and volume. The plane flew right by them, and even when it was far out it was loud. And by pure logic and physics the plane is supposed to be louder, 4 piston 1900hp engines driving counter rotating props, the VB.10-C is louder and yet its only 2 1,300hp engines. And how do you know gaijin actually record the sound? There are a lot of planes gaijin couldn’t record

That’s not what I said, his phone microphone is peaking and that’s why it sounds more like a droning noise rather than what we have in game. The gaijin microphones are more accurate to what you would hear in real life.

Gaijin could record the sound because this guy could. If it is still operational most museums/ collectors are happy to let game developers record engine noises.

1- If your volume is too low, increase it.

Shackleton is the top one, and clearly louder.

3- Microphones require calibration for professional recording.

if they didn’t record the sound of the aircraft moving through the air or a fly by then it wouldn’t be an accurate sound as the air moving over the aircraft and into the propellers can cause additional disruptions. As the plane flies through the air, the airflow is not always uniform or straight, leading to uneven loading on the propeller blades, especially in a contra-rotating system. This uneven loading can contribute to increased noise. And again, there are multiple videos of the plane flying by and being loud even when its far out, unless you believe all microphones are peaking that is. And that doesn’t explain why the VB.10-C is louder

1 - Maxed out, no difference as you’ve seen in the video.
3. Again, there are multiple videos of it recorded with difference microphones at different angles. I recorded these at different distances

Try recording a gunshot with your phone and then find one from a professional quality mic. A quality mic will pick up what the phone camera cannot. Especially true if said phone camera is in an already loud environment (I.E: an air show crowd) and on the ground at a significant distance.

As for the VB.10-C submit a bug report if you think it is wrong.

you glazed over what i said, aircraft noise is more complex than just microphone quality. Consistent recordings show the plane being loud even at a distance, which could mean it’s not just a microphone issue. The in-game sound can lack accuracy if it doesn’t account for the full dynamics of airflow and propeller noise, which you’ve ignored.

and i don’t think the VB.10-C is wrong, i used it to show how low the Shackleton is in game when it is louder irl

Yes aircraft noise is more than mic quality but would you rather have a running game or perfectly accurate sounds? The current recording in game is more accurate than a video from some phone at an airshow.

If you want full realism than jet engines would make anyone sitting in 3rd person view deaf instantly with how close they are. A loud ass buzzing noise you can hear from halfway across the map isn’t needed.

If you really want it you can bug report it, or PM @Gunjob

i never asked for a “loud ass buzzing noise” lmao, just why is it the incorrect sound and it could have a little more volume to it. Because it makes no sense why one of the loudest bomber planes irl is lower than fighters in game, especially since war thunder is supposed to be historically accurate or close to it. Sound is one of the things that makes war thunder enjoyable just like how the graphics makes it enjoyable for a lot of people.

My Xbox would explode if we had accurate sound, you can make a suggestion for an option to turn it on or off but it’s not practical or really wanted by the average player

(top is avro, bottom is VB.10-C) The Avro isn’t louder, it has a wider volume because it was slower while the VB flew past quick leaving a more sudden build up. The part where the Avro seems to be at max volume is a woosh sound when it passes, the VB-10-C is louder in engine sound.

Its their generic 4 engine bomber engine sound FX.

I went directly from the game with new recordings cause I don’t trust videos.
On top of that, despite the camera being further away from the Shackleton, it’s still louder.

What app are you using? Did you account for the woosh sound I told you about? And was it the same distance for each

I flew the aircraft directly since I don’t have another party with both aircraft.
OBS to record with 320kb/s audio, audacity to show the volumes.
