The AMRAAM-ER is Intentionally Being Nerfed to Keep the AIM-120C-5 Nerfed

Anyone got the AMRAAM-ER unlocked on the Dev server? The missile itself should be some 15 cm longer than the AMRAAM, so the cannisters for the launcher have to be longer. On the Dev the cannisters only fit for the stock missile, which seems to be an AMRAAM.

Do you have any information?

Hm, they look to be modelled the same length

“The new missile is significantly longer than the standard AMRAAM, requiring a 12-inch extension to the front of the launch canister and a revised location within it for the umbilical data connector to interface with the repositioned missile.”

Interesting… It seems that the warhead influenced this. Thank you

Also:

“AMRAAM ER was ready to take out a target in flight, according to High, because of extensive testing over the course of 2015. Kongsberg reconfigured its NASAMS launcher, extending the top row of three canisters by a foot. The company also updated the software in the launcher to recognize the new missile, High noted.”

Gonna be honest the only hope for amraam er atp is for it to get a better seeker I was told smin was pinged for this thread because when gunjob was asked about this he said he couldn’t do anything about it and to ping smin on the matter

One of the few accepted reports

They are also out right ignoring the radar reports to have at minimum 75km range which is also why it’s prob limited to 40km max cuz they can’t model the radar to look past that

They got other radars to look farther than that, its moreso that gaijin just has 0 interest in making the MPQ-64 correct.

Is that my beloved Derby I see there?

Clearly a different missile

Thats a RIM-162 i believe.

This would be more similar to the guidance section of an AMRAAM fused to the propulsion stack of the ESSM

Spoiler

This is a RIM-162 i believe

Yes I know but gaijin refuses to acknowledge they use the same motor

Quick comparison of the ESSM and AMRAAM. Both are 3.66 metres long, so i just used paint to calculate the length of the propulsion pack and warhead for the ESSM and AMRAAM respectively. The propulsion pack for the ESSM was approx 2.26 metres long, while the AMRAAM warhead was approx 1.79 metres long.
Combined is this 4.05 metres, of course with a fair amount of margin. For example i did not include the transition section of the ESSM, not to mention the method of using pixels to measure it.

I have seen sources that states 3.96 metres for the AMRAAM-ER, so its in the area. What is definitely for sure is that the AMRAAM-ER is longer than the standard AMRAAM, and should be modeled as such.

ESSM is longer than amraam though

that 145.5 inches comes out to 3.6957 meters

even if you assume the TVC nozzle is like 15cm long thats still a lot longer than amraam

Here is something that is funny. Both of you can be right, because Mach number is based on indicated airspeed. The 920 m/s max speed is correct, which at sea level is ~2.68 Mach. But as altitude increases, Mach number increases, even if the missile’s velocity across the ground remains the same. So, depending on the target’s altitude the player can get a variety of Mach numbers and maximum ranges.
