The AIM-54 Phoenix missile - Technology, History and Performance

They listen to sudo_su so talk to him

I’ve shaved at least a decade off my lifespan by fighting for the F-14 and Phoenix on these forums.

I wish someone with a following would cover the topic, but I think the CCs know that the common opinion is so against the F-14 that they’d only get flak for it.
Maybe Zent would cover it though? I don’t know.

Are these of any use? I was browsing some forums that weren’t in English for possible info and I found these:
164443_81596525_AIM-54A
164443_tmb_214190884_Mk47 (2)
164443_tmb_571175755_Mk47
164443_tmb_71396972_Mk60

It looks like missile schematics for the body and motor.

The all up ( & burnout ) weight(s) might be useful.

Since the -54A is currently datamined (burn out) as 273kg (602lb), not the listed 290.2kg (639.8lb) at.

So it’s likely subsequent thrust metrics are wrong, though I don’t know which motors are modeled in game, for which F-14 configuration.

Though the presence of Aluminum in the mixture probably indicates the “non-reduced smoke” variant.

You dont have something that has the max fin AOA do you?

Such values could directly help with the missile’s performance even if the G loading does not get increased.

Reduced smoke propellant still has aluminum, just a far less than standard propellant.

I saw the video , i think he was ironic. The F-14 IRIAF is OP and F90s are the best thing ever , when the others try to not defend against them.
In fact there is nothing to think, he was just ironic , but people will take it as they like because they think like that… so he must say that.

I’ll try. It’s hard to find these when the forum is in a language that can’t be digitally translated.

Perhaps share a link to that forum.

TBH I’m more curious as to what language it is that can’t be translated …

It can be translated, idk why it wasn’t translating before, but I tried again and it’s works fine.

Here’s the link: Vanjskobalistički proračun (program) leta rakete

Besides the Aim-54 there seems to be tons of (seemingly) primary sources on there.

My findings in terms of Aim-54 dimensions and other stats etc…

I also found this: https://www.key.aero/forum/modern-military-aviation/6000-simultaneous-attack-with-six-aim-54as#:~:text=Regarding%20tests%20against,a%20direct%20hit. Which entails that the Aim-54 did 2 things its not capable of doing ingame.

  1. Tracking Rear-Aspect/Cold
  2. Resisting the notch

I don’t think any of this is official, or if it is, it requires the proof of declassification and availability for public distribution before you post it here.

I got it from here

They got the pictures from here: Scale Data and it doesn’t seem like any of them are classified. Looks like it’s acquired under the “Freedom of Information Act” or Museum documentation.

Claims of it being obtained are not proof of it being provided.
