no, only a modified version of the D, the XAIM-4H did, and a Japanese version allegedly and maybe the Swedish one. But the AIM-4D still performs much better than the AIM-4G/F on account of its effective speed
So, practically nothing will change. It will still struggle to hit anything. The AIM-4F version, in particular, has trouble hitting a target even when the target is trying to be hit.
things will change
Do they?
you can observe their projected performance in the clips, if we get them which is not at all certain then they will perform better
It is with great sadness that I pass along the message that the F-102s chances of receiving better falcons this patch seem to have diminished substantially. IF it remains that way, in my opinion this will be an an extremely poor choice on the devs part as this leaves the F-102 with weapons it was both never compatible with and that were never designed to work with it, thus we have a fundamentally flawed aircraft that people will not really be able to enjoy.
seems they didn’t fire one of them

Whats that? AIM-26B?
this was in the asset viewer a patch or so ago, it was labelled as RB28 (swedish AIM-4C/D)
it has english text and is labeled “AIM-4D” in a place you cannot read here
it has now been replaced by a model with actual Swedish text, if you ask me, this is the model for an American AIM-4D that we are either yet to receive, or not receiving for reasons unknown
The 3d modellers once again doing a fairly good job, just need to paint the bottom part orange to show it was a live missile, although the swedes might have used all white on their live missiles for all i know.
It’s possible that the 10th missile either failed to ignite, was used in a ground launch test, or was kept as “work in progress” mock up of the system for the one way datalink design. Even if it’s the former case, 90% launch rate is not bad for the 70’s.
Aside from terrible pop history material, I wonder how many opinions of this missile are just based on bad in game performance… hopefully this thread can fix it!
AIM-4s look cursed without the red fins
also the shag patent
US4146196A - Simplified high accuracy guidance system - Google Patents
maybe the f-101 fired the Last one or maybe there were other falcon variants used in the shag program
AIM-4G/F are so bad they make you go and find the long lost XAIM-4H
it also seems a lot of people think the regular falcons are significantly worse than super falcon ,due to the super falcons having super in the name.
Well, in real life they were significantly better than their predecessors; more manoeuvrable/tighter turn radius (and that matters in a contact fused missile) and with significantly better seekers, the IR versions in particular going from rear aspect/SWIR to all aspect/MWIR which more than compensates for not being as fast in a tail chase.
Gaijin just chose to give them none of their actual advantages.
AIM-4D-8 saw combat
Also AIM-4D-9(no details other than its existence)
from a dev server replay, it really doesn’t look like the super falcons should fit in the side bays of the F-102
that should be enough for a bug report
