The AIM-4/26 Falcon - History, Design, Performance & Discussion

Do yk if any american jets get the swedish/swiss falcon with the prox fuse

the proxy fuse is a not something i would focus on much. delta dagger can carry aim26.

the aim26 always had proxy
also it’s an american missile

4F CS and SMC are from the same time

I noticed halfway through that this was the case but i was too lazy to actually correct myself
They seem to all have a nice habit of contradicting themselves on every other document

Judging from MatAWG’s new video, the AIM-4s will be slightly better AIM-9Bs. (Granted they were fired at the test drive Mig-15s so results will definitely vary when used in an actual match.)

Kinda looks like they’re gonna be worse tbh, they have like no speed to actually pull after they burn out compared to the 9b

and it can barely catch them

would be sick to launch 1 IR and 1 SARH at the same time

Eh, they’re more usable than the SRAAMs IMO.
As a person who just spaded the F.6, I would take these over SRAAMs any day and also over the Aim-9B that cannot turn as most people launch their missiles between 700m to 1.5km at these BRs anyways since the missiles are all terrible in one way or another. Even for an Aim-9B, hitting a target from a 3km launch is a big ask unless the target isn’t sentient and is just an NPC. I never die to Aim-9Bs.

There is no universe you saw the ingame perfomance and you think theyre worse, matawg never fired from an altitude advantage nor he did he ever fire over mach 1. The missiles are 100% better than aim9bs its not even close

Realistic. But definetly anti fun.

Its not even that much different tbh and realism is more important imo, we dont want a KH38 moment

Realism is definetly not more important. Not wasting two missiles isnt going to change the fact falcons are limited missiles. We dont need to model every small quirk about a plane’s fcs.

The reason they shot in pairs(same thing on the delta dagger) is to ensure hits, this is because of the high failure rate of early missiles. Which ingame isnt modelled. So modelling this in game is pointless.

Kh38.t is probelmatic cause its op as fuck. Aim 4 will be strong in short range ambushes but its squarely in line with other missiles in the bracket

It is, the game should be balanced on realism as opposed to the current system of whatever the devs feel like

Realism will always take a backseat when game balance is involved because at the end of the day everything has to be fun for everyone, of course you cannot please everyone and I am a staunch believer that Gaijin devs have no idea what they’re doing half the time since some balancing decisions really make me scratch my head but it is what it is. Balans Comrade is the only reason USSR vehicles can be competitive in their BRs, its the reason Chinese vehicles can be competitive without losing a road wheel or having engines that spontaneously combust and its the reason that unskilled players don’t dominate in German and American vehicles.

So in cases like these, the Falcon should actually get a buff IMO but we’ll have to see how the Falcons work in the live environment after the initial shitstorm of F-106s will flood the 9.3 MM on the 27th and the weeks after that as people are spading their F-106s since not everyone can afford to GE it. Basically we’ll only really see how well the Falcons perform near the end of September as by then the MM should have returned to normal. But regardless, the F-106 itself likely doesn’t need a buff, from videos I’ve seen of it in test flight, even while stock, she looks good. I am excited, and I can tell that she’ll dogfight better than my Hunter F.6 lol

wrong it is exactly the other way around in WT

realism first and then if something becomes to bad they will balance it by changing the BR

I agree to an extent, there should always be some things that are ignored due to sheer balance such as armour quality and as you said, engines combusting from stress
The realism should be performance based on 100% reliability, so ignoring malpractice in the factory or use etc but thats as far as I personally agree to it with some exceptions ofc bc nothings ever that simple.

The falcons, besides reliability, should be 100% accurate to their real self, if they were shit then they were shit and well what can you do

There are a few issues when it comes to early TT stuff that are ww2 bc there are so many versions basically the same plane so having them all the same performance adds basically nothing to the tree so I can also understand that angle of balance but for the most part realism in performance of vehicles should be at the forefront of a vehicles performance, we have a BR system for a reason (yes it has issues, the entire game has issues and theyre too busy adding body pillows to care)
