Would have been nice to split the initial 49K RP research cost into 20k-29K for SAL and IR , but the IR alone costs 49K on top of 15K RP for the SAL ones, and again, you cant even take SAL on the outer pylons for some reason.
Yeah why can’t they just let us have one with sal an ir?? If it’s not possible which i hardly belive why can’t we use the left over pylons for the sal version?
The best way will be to add the switch button that will select 3 options IR/SAL/Combined
Combined being SAL priority: if there is laser - goes for the laser, if there is no laser - goes for the target that was pre-designated/illuminated by the laser mid flight.
or just make it combined mode only without adding any new buttons
Sounds nice , but it might get tricky . A really good option would be to keep the current missiles, but allow 8x JAGM-MR ( SAL ) on the outer pylons, so that your max possible loadout is 8x IR 8x SAL. This combined with the proximity fuze ( that it may or may not get, report got accepted as suggestion ) , would make it deadly against other helicopters.
I don’t understand people who don’t work for Gaijin trying to say what can or can’t be done because of the code.
Itour other point that it can’t be done because it’s a new mechanic doesn’t make much sense either. Gaijin has to add new mechanics to advance the game. Not sure why players defend them taking shortcuts and poor implementation of features like this.
As you said, these aren’t the only seakers that are dual(or triple) mode. So them taking time to properly develop it makes perfect sense.
Brothers , i have used the JAGM-MR SAL and JAGM-MR IR on the dev-server.
The laser version is literally a free kill against other choppers. While the IR version is opressive against tanks
Why does AH-60 get to have 16 Spikes while the AH-64E is limited to only 8 JAGMs? The difference in range is irrelevant due to the time it takes to travel more than 8 km…
It’s weird they haven’t thought of it sooner, as we have weapons with different guidance types for years now. Like they haven’t realized more modern missiles will have multi mode seekers.
They seem to build a code that’s hardly scalable and can’t be upgraded/expanded very well, or if at all.
There’s already something similar for some SPAA where you can manually swap the seeker to fire in IR or contrast guidance modes, with a bit of tweaking a similar mechanic could work for other weapons. Be a hell of a lot better than what we currently have anyway with splitting them into different versions or some modes not even be able to be used. (GPS on any IR or TV guided weapon).
At a bare minimum. The SAL JAGM-MRs should be available on the outer pylons. But yeah, I do hope they implement proper multi-mode seekers ASAP. Gunna be a nightmare with Brimstones otherwise
