1- Gaijin removed airfield destruction in higher ranks long ago. So they want to make it consistent to lower BR. because it is easier to learn for newbies.
2- They want to do us nothing but easy prey for those Interceptors.
It matters because
Bombers are forced to limit in role for victory.
We BOTH know that Gaijin removed airfield destruction. The most straightforward option of the bomber makes the team win.
Yes, destroying bases to decreasing tickets works.
Just… It is not as effective as killing ground targets or shooting enemies down.

Look at these fighter-jocks who wanted full removal of base, airfield, ground targets, ticket draining and make ARB as TDM PVP mode.

To be fair destroying bases shouldnt take out many tickets.
The win condition for bombing its destroying the bases to then insta win at destroying the airfield (which has a lot of hp). Because destroying the 4 bases its so easy, making this a win condition its not fair (especially at top tier)
I really dont get it why. It already was present only in a mode you would get once in a blue moon and now itsw gone completely, stupid, stupid, STUPID GAIJIN! Bombers were already useless but very, very rarely you could win a game single handed by bombing the airfield… this is just sad!
The only possible redemption for gaijin for taking this ridiculous path is if they plan to add objectives that make strike aircraft and bombers actually matter
Why are there different amount of aircraft to kill for special tasks?
Options (for Air RB) special tasks:
Kill 26 fighters
Kill 8 bombers
So based on this it looks like killing a bomber is 3 times more difficult than killing a fighter. We all know that is not the case - just evidence of bombers being designated prey.
With a small adjustment (like: Kill 26 bombers or 8 Fighters) you would increase the survival chances of bombers without real effort 😎
Regarding the current (announced) changes:
From my pov there are no substantial changes at BRs above 2.7. I played (after a break) now on several 3 bases maps (Frontline maps and legacy maps like Poland) without noticing any changes, so it looks like gaijin either “forgot” these maps or just changed bases at lower BRs than 2.7.
The increase of contrail altitudes (on medium maps now around 9km) should increase the survival chances of experienced bomber pilots in bombers with good high alt performance. I ran today (by accident) multiple times in very high Pe-8s (at 7km+) and even in a PB5-M (at 6 km) which popped out of nowhere. Have in mind that the graphics whilst playing on xbox are far inferior compared to PC graphics.
The downsides of these contrail alt changes is (ofc) that it is basically impossible to track enemy fighters trying to pitch up. After watching several replays it became obvious that i got tracked and stalked multiple times without being aware of that (despite i scanned the airspace below and behind) - the majority of these fighters broke off as they ran out of fuel or were too lazy to climb.
That’s why i assess the current changes as a slight upside for experienced prop bomber pilots - the average players still try their low level runs with the usual outcome😉
A ridiculous change, I don’t know how Gaijin are this tone deaf.
Bombers suck, the only semblance of enjoyment you can get out of them is lucking out with 2-3 bomber teammates and formation flying or being strategic about where to bomb and eventually hitting the airfield.
Surely with this change, Gaijin will address the terrible state of bombers to compensate them for such egregious gameplay changes? Oh wait… cockpit placeholders from 2013.
What is with the complete sterilization of any kind of non-TDM gameplay in ARB? Why are Gaijin even touching these things? Some of the best fun I used to have back in the day was Torpedo bombing in my shitty Italian bomber, it had a surprising amount of entertainment to it. Now? How dare you not play a fighter… anyway here’s a $80 jet.
