TGP slaving to radar

Is there a way to tell if an aircraft can slave its optical tracker to the radar without testing?

Is it a property of the aircraft or of the pod?

For example, the F-2A ADTW slaves the pod to the radar, both for air and sea targets;

Can the TT F-2A do it? Since it has a different pod

Yes the sniper pod can track air targets

Unless I’m missing something, is it not as simple as test flying the aircraft and attempting to lock the AI planes?

It can. I have done this in Simulator battles to ensure my enemy is the correct one.

I think the requirement is that the radar must be of ESA type? Both Gripen C and F-18D with their mechanical radars can’t do it.

yeah that does not work for slaving the TGP. the Sniper on the F-16CM does not slave to the radar, for example, although that text is present in the statcard. testing it is I guess…

might be… I just tried the ATFLIR on the super hornet, and it does slave to the radar (but does not slave the 9M seeker to it, unlike the F-2)

the same? pod on the F-18C (CH) can neither slave to radar nor slave the 9M

Make sure to use the “deactivate target point” bind to actually get the TGP to slave to radar.

the radar yes, but a TGP lock does not

No TGP can slave IR missiles though
So idk why you brought that up

I on multiple occasions slaved the AAM-3 to a TGP lock on the F-2A ADTW when uptiering it to 13.7 (in ASB) and rat with minimal radar use
