ZA-35 never recieved 35x228 APDS (but ofc can technically fire it but as it never received it, its not known whether the FCS could deal with leading it).
ZA-35 instead got the old Armour Piercing Hard Core shell (HVAP), which despite having around 100mm of penetration, is still HVAP afterall (so sucks against angled, layered and spaced armour, while also having abysmal damage).
Wobbling is not a problem as long as the gun returns to zero in between shots which is the case with 2a42. So the amplitude is irrelevant here.
This cannon shoots and hits targets at 2-2.5km when installed on a helicopter, too.
Rate of fire only physically changes the frequency of forces exhibited on a gun and therefore the frequency of oscillations.
It doesn’t have direct effect on bullet spread. Gun moves very similarly, just accelerated in time
What?
Ok either way my point stands. If BMPT got a fast RoF with the same accuracy as the puma’s lower RoF in the game, then the PUMA should be able to have their high RoF or the Puma should have more accuracy than the BMPT. Right now the BMPT is better than the puma in every way.
Gaijin really needs to learn how autocannons work. The entire reason the bradley was such a good tank compared to other IFVs was the bushmaster was an actually extremely accurate autocannon. If they fixed autocannons spread, especially on SPAAs, so many balancing issues would be fixed, especially the BMPT which is probably lucky to get one round on target out of its whole belt
Going from 100 at 90 to 40mm at 30 degrees seems like a pretty damn decent angled performance. Unfortunately, Gaijin hates HVAP just as much as they hate incendiary cannon shells.
I dont have the figures for the core (weight primarily, I can estimate the core diameter relatively easily), but otherwise the ingame-performance can be calculated via the wiki;
Although… I do have more info on the 40mm PKLH round that Oerlikon also made, which claims the following;
And the 20mm ammo brochure claims this;
40mm PKLH & 20mm PKLH
So I’d argue that it’s not a bad reference to estimate the 35mm PKLH values with;
The point is, the calculator for HVAP is simply wrong.
20mm HVAP is the most glaring example, IRL it had vastly superior performance, the 57mm penetration is the 800m value IRL, and the angled penetration is simply a joke.
The 35mm HVAP clearly has good angled penetration. In game it would get stopped by an angled wet tissue.
HVAP angle performance in-game is taken as more of a suggestion sadly.
Also some HVAP rounds (e.g. DM43) lack their incendiary effect entirely, which doesnt help either.
Well, the incendiary effect is useless vs tanks, as they can burn for several minutes with next to no damage sustained anyway.
Also, when you can’t pen something, incendiary makes no difference…
Yeah, but currently the only thing 20mm is good for is anti air. And for anti-air HE is vastly superior, as it 1-shots WW2 props unless they are Soviet, then the shell doesn’t fuse at all vs most of the wings and fuselage/tail because plywood is bugged ever since this game started and the buy has been made worse around May 2025.
Anyway, would be nice if Gaijin one day fixed APCR.
That would require rework of all cannons in game because they all without exception have unnatural ability to aim into LFP at 2km distances.
Reduction in @bility to aim applies to all weapons and is the desirable thing for me. Im toi tired of LFP thunder the game becomes pointless
